Gardner-Webb Bulldogs vs. Virginia Cavaliers
March Madness 1st Round: Friday March 22nd 2019 3:10 PM EST TIME
The Gardner-Webb Bulldogs are looking to be one of the cinderella teams in the big dance as they take on Virginia on Friday night. As for the Cavaliers they have put together an impressive resume this season.
The Gardner-Webb Bulldogs are looking to prove their status in the big dance as some may see this as a surprise they even made it in the tournament. The Bulldogs still had an impressive season in their conference, but looking at who they are taking on, they had about an average season. The reason why they are in the big dance is due to beating Radford 76-65 on Sunday to win the Big South tournament championship and earn its first trip to the NCAA tournament. With a lot on the line for this team. they are going to need everything in order to take down the Cavaliers.
🚨🚨🚨 DON'T MISS THIS!!! Gardner-Webb will host a Selection Show watch party on Sunday, March 17 from 5:00-7:00 pm in Tucker Student Center. Food trucks, music, games, giveaways and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Special night in Boiling Springs!!! 🚨🚨🚨 pic.twitter.com/SfWGkn9K1r

For the season, the Bulldogs are led by David Efianayi who averages 18.4 points a game on the season. On the flip side their defensive minded player Jose Perez gets at least four assists a game along with 5.8 rebounds. The Bulldogs are allowing 78.3 points per game.
The Virginia Cavaliers are once again looking to continue their strong March winning ways alive as the ACC regular-season champion are ready to start dancing. The Cavaliers are the No. 1 seed in the NCAA South Region for the NCAA Tournament thanks to an impressive resume this year. The No. 1 seed marks the fourth in the past six seasons and seventh overall for the Cavaliers. Did you know that the Cavaliers were the No. 1 overall seed for last year’s tournament? They fell to 16th ranked UMBC last season in the opening round. Looking back at their history they went all the way into the NCAA Elite Eight in 2016 which has been the best in the past four years.

For the season, the Cavaliers are led by Kyle Guy who is scoring 15.6 points a game on 47.2% shooting. For the season, they have the best defense in the NCAAB as they are allowing only 55.1 points per game. On the flip side they are scoring an average of 71.8 points per game.
- Cavaliers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 NCAA Tournament games.
- Runnin’ Bulldogs are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
- Runnin’ Bulldogs are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
- Runnin’ Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Atlantic Coast.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Virginia Cavaliers may be one of the best teams in the NCAAB, but they do not do a great jump covering games in the big dance. Almost 24 points is a lot to ask for a team that got out in the first round. Cavaliers win by not by 24 points.
Full-Game Total Pick
I can see the Bulldogs making a nice run early in the first half or late in the second half to push this game to the Over. The Over is 4-1 in Runnin’ Bulldogs last 5 games following a straight up win as well as 4-1 in Runnin’ Bulldogs last 5 games following a ATS win.
