The Duke Blue Devils host Atlantic Coast Conference rivals the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Saturday. Duke is 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the ACC while Georgia Tech is 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference. Both teams play in the Coastal Division, aka the division without Clemson, so there is a path to a division title. Duke has won the last two meetings, including a 28-14 win at Georgia Tech last year. Kickoff is Saturday at 12:30 p.,m. Eastern at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C.
Georgia Tech gets steamrolled by UNCThe Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the ACC. They have lost 3 straight games, including a 38-22 loss to North Carolina last weekend. Georgia Tech was thoroughly outplayed, giving up a whopping 587 total yards including 326 in the air and 211 on the ground. UNC had 34 first downs to just 14 for the Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets got off to a horrible start, but actually played well in the second half, scoring twice in the third quarter to cut the lead to 27-15.
Quarterback James Graham, making his first start, was 11 for 24 for 171 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. James Mason had 62 yards rushing and a touchdown, while Adonicas Sanders had 3 catches for 67 yards. Malachi Carter and Ahmarean Brown each had touchdown catches.
The Yellow Jackets offense has been pretty anemic. They only average 15 points per game, which ranks 127th in the nation. They average 295 total yards per game, which is 124th in the country. That includes 135 yards per game in the air, which ranks 125th in the country, and 160 ypg on the ground, which is 67th. Their defense allows 30 points per game, which ranks 95th in the country. They give up 430 yards per game, which ranks 99th. They give up 184 ypg in the air, which ranks 22nd, and a whopping 246 ypg on the ground, which is 128th in the nation.
Duke loses wild oneThe Duke Blue Devils kicked off the 2019-20 season with a 42-3 loss at Alabama, but since then have played pretty well. They won their next three games before losing at home to Pittsburgh last weekend 33-30. This was a wild game. Pitt jumped out to a 26-3 lead and Duke roared back to score 27 unanswered points to take a 30-26 lead. But Pitt scored late in the fourth quarter to escape with the win. Quarterback Quentin Harris had a rough game going 18 for 43 for 165 yards with a touchdown and 2 interceptions. But he did have 2 rushing touchdowns. Duke only had 288 total yards but had 2 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries.
"They showed a bunch of heart," Duke coach David Cutcliffe said, reported the Charlotte Observer. "We did not perform efficiently on offense. What we can't do out of this is hang our head. We're going to learn a lot from this game."
Duke's offense averages 33 points per game, which ranks 45th in the nation. They average 390 total yards per game, which is 83rd in the country. That includes 210 yards per game in the air, which is 90th in the country, and 180 ypg on the ground, which is 50th. The Blue Devils defense allows 23 points per game, which ranks 45th. They give up 339 total yards per game, which ranks 42nd. They give up 213 ypg in the air, which ranks 57th, and 125 ypg on the ground, which is 43rd in the nation.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Take the Yellow Jackets getting the points. That's way too many points to give up for a team in Duke that just isn't that good. They'll clearly win the game but the Yellow Jackets actually have a very good pass defense, allowing just 184 yards per game. So I think the Jackets will be able to keep it close. And they showed something in the second half of their loss to UNC last week, so I look for that momentum to continue. Quarterback James Graham played well in his first start, especially in the second half, so look for him to improve as he gets more comfortable under center for the Jackets. The underdog is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings between these two, so go with the underdog here once again.
Prediction: Georgia Tech +17
Full-Game Total Pick
Take the over. I do like the over here. Neither one of these defenses are very good, so look for the total to be easily pushed into over territory. The Jackets are decent against the pass, but can't stop the run. Duke doesn't run that well, but they'll reach their season average of 32 points pretty easily. I think the Jackets have found something in Graham and will keep it close. The over is 4-1-1 in Yellow Jackets last 6 road games and 4-1-1 in their last 6 conference games. Also, the over is 4-0 in Blue Devils last 4 games overall and 5-0 in their last 5 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.
