Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Indiana Hoosiers
College Football Week 7: Saturday, October 12th, 2019 12:00 PM EST TIME
We have a huge Big 10 matchup on Saturday as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights will be looking to stop a four-game losing streak as they head into Indiana to take on the mighty Hoosiers.
Rough Opening StartThe Rutgers Scarlet Knights have a quarterback problem as injuries and setbacks have the Knights starting their 3rd quarterback of the season. The Knights sent out freshman Johnny Langan for his first start against Maryland last week as it was a rough opening start. Langan finished the game with 13-of-25 completions with two interceptions and no touchdowns in a 48-7 loss. It was not the best of starts and now the young buck might be getting his first conference start against a tough Indiana team. The Knights currently have one of the lowest-ranked offensives in the league as they currently average 14.2 points per game. On the flip side, it is no different, as the defense is getting pushed around by every single team this season.
On the defensive side of the ball, Rutgers allows 36.2 points per game, which ranks 114th in FBS. With giving up a lot of points, you can probably guess they give up a lot of yards. Last week, the Knights allowed 490 total yards and four rushing touchdowns to the Terrapins.
Well Rested Hoosiers TeamThe Indiana Hoosiers come into this game well-rested as they have not played football for over a week now. The Hoosiers had a bye week this past weekend as their most recent game came against the Michigan State Spartans. They were unable to get the job done in the loss to Michigan State but had a great offensive performance from the quarterback. The Hoosiers are a pass-first offense and redshirt QB Michael Penix Jr. has shown why he deserves this job. Penix even created history in the loss as hecompleted his 20th pass in a row at Michigan State, he had surpassed a school record and was closing in on a Big Ten record. To continue about the offense, the Hoosiers passing offense ranksthird in the Big Ten in passing offense (304 yards per game), fourth in completion percentage (70.2) and fifth in quarterback rating (154.92).

The Hoosiers come into this game with a 3-2 overall record and should easily get to four wins in this matchup. At home, Indiana is averaging 33.50 points per game with over 300 passing yards.
- Indiana are 4-8 SU in their last 12 games.
- Indiana are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games at home.
- Indiana are 1-8 SU in their last 9 games against an opponent in the Big 10 conference.
- Rutgers is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against Indiana.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Even though the Scarlet Knights have one of the worst offenses in the league, they have played very well against the Hoosiers in recent games. In the past five games against them, the Knights have covered in four of those games with an average of 28.80 points per game. Even in the last three games, they have covered twice with an average of 14.67 points per game. Twenty-eight points is a lot to hand over, give me the free points.
Prediction: RUTGERS +28.0
Full-Game Total Pick
With the Hoosiers being well-rested coming off the bye, there should be no problem for this offense to get going early and often. The Over is 4-0 in Hoosiers last 4 games following a bye week as well as 5-0 in Hoosiers last 5 games in October. The Knights will be able to cover and help hit the over as they have scored at least two touchdowns in the previous five matchups.
