Miami – Ohio Redhawks vs. Army Black Knights
College Football Week 8: Saturday October 20th 2018
The Miami-Ohio Redhawks are looking to keep their winning streak going as they head into Army to take on the Black Knights. The Redhawks have been impressive so far but this will be one of the toughest challenges for them as the Black Knights have one of the best running attacks in college football.
Let’s Make It Three In A Row
The Miami Ohio Redhawks come into this game with some momentum as they are looking to get on a three-game winning streak for the first time this season. The Redhawks are coming off wins against the Akron Zips and Kent State Golden Flashes as they have combined for 72 total points in this game. The offense has been gearing up as the Redhawks are starting to get their offense air attack going. That is one of the best ways for the Redhawks to score as they have averaged at least 250 passing yards in the past two games.

The Redhawks are the type of team that has the talent to turn their season around. Thanks to an improved passing game, they have won three of the past four games, after starting the season with three straight losses. In their recent win against the Golden Flashes, quarterback Gus Ragland was able to throw for 209 passing yards while rushing for a score and 22 yards.
The Army Black Knights are looking to keep their winning streak alive just like the Redhawks as they too have had an offensive explosion the past couple of wins. The Black Knights come into this game with a two game winning streak with huge wins against the Buffalo Bulls and the San Jose State Spartans. In those two combined wins, the Black Knights were able to drop 94 points as the rushing game was once again one of the leagues best. The success with the running game, is they have a depth chart filled with over eight running backs that are always ready to take the field. A fresh running back and a tired defense does not go hand in hand.
The QB follows his blockers for his third rushing TD of the game.

The rushing game was led by quarterback Kelvin Hopkins Jr., who had almost 100 yards on the ground with three touchdowns as well as hitting on 2-5 for 54 passing yards and a TD. In total, the option-oriented Black Knights had 342 rushing yards out of their 395 total yards on the day. It’s easy to go into a game against Army, knowing that you have to stop their option attack. But executing on defense against a well-oiled option team is not an easy task.
ARMY BLACK KNIGHTS
- Black Knights are 7-16 ATS in their last 23 vs. MAC.
- Black Knights are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
- Redhawks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game.
- Redhawks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
- Redhawks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games on fieldturf.
- Redhawks are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
- Redhawks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS win.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
One of the main reasons why I love the Miami-Ohio Redhawks in this game is due to their rushing defense. In their past two wins combined, they have only allowed less than 160 total rushing yards. With an Army team that only runs the option, expect a game plan from Miami that will be able to slow down the tempo a lot. Give me the points.
Prediction: Miami-Ohio +8.5
Full-Game Total Pick
One of my locks of the week, as both teams come into this matchup after scoring at least forty points in the past two games. Everything is going right for the offenses right now as I do not see any of that slowing down into a defensive battle. Last week, the Black Knights forced four turnovers as that too gave them great field position. Take the Over as it is 4-0 in Black Knights last 4 games in October and 5-1 in Black Knights last 6 vs. a team with a losing record.
