Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. LSU Tigers
College Football Week 8: Saturday, October 20th 2018
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are looking to claim into the rankings as they head on the road to take on the LSU Tigers. As for the Tigers they have had a successful season so far as a loss here would destroy their chances of reaching the college football championship. Will Baton Rouge be left in heartbreak or cheers on Saturday?
Well Rested For Battle
This is going to be an interesting game to follow heading up into Saturday as the Mississippi State Bulldogs come into this game with a full week of reset as they are coming off their bye week. This is the perfect time to take on the #5 ranked Tigers as the whole team is healthy and ready for battle, but does that correlate to covering the spread/ winning the game on Saturday? Well, their recent matchup consisted of taking down the Auburn Tigers as they look to keep the running match going. Now remember, the Bulldogs do not have a passing game what so ever as they are a run first, second, third and fourth team. They will throw the occasional slant for five yards, but they are a running style of an offense team. Can they be one of the first teams to break the wall of LSU?

In four of the games so far this season, the Bulldogs have allowed at least 100 rushing yards, so this should not be too far out of reach for them. The one who reads the option will be QB Nick Fitzgerald who currently has 709 passing yards along with four touchdowns, however, is greatest feat is having a team-high 513 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns. Fitzgerald reads the defense, before he either runs straight up the gut or options it off to his many of running backs that line up behind him all game long. However, on the flip side, they also have one of the strongest defenses in the league. The defense is only giving up less than 13 points per game.
Even though the Mississippi State Bulldogs have had some nice wins this season, the LSU Tigers have gone up against some of the best so far this year already as they are coming off a historic win against the ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Can the Tigers once again take down another elite Bulldog team? Instead of having just a run first mentality for the Tigers, LSU has a more balanced offense where they usually throw and run for about thirty attempts a piece. Coming into this game, it will be strong arm quarterback Joe Burrow who is ready to unleash a passing offense that the Bulldogs have yet to seen yet.

Because of this balanced offense, he has been able to throw for 1,415 passing yards along with six touchdowns with two interceptions. He is one of the reasons why the Tigers are the only team in this year to have three top-10 wins this season. There should be no doubt that the Tigers will continue this roll. Going back to the offense, they are averaging a best 404 total yards of offense and 32 points per game. Even if the Bulldogs get the running game going, the Tigers have the strength to attack from multiple angles on Saturday.
- Tigers are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 conference games.
- Tigers are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game.
- Tigers are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games in October.
- Tigers are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games on grass.
- Tigers are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
- Tigers are 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game.
MISSISSIPPI STATE BULLDOGS
- Bulldogs are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Let’s keep it short and simple. The LSU Tigers have one of the best teams in school history as they are coming off their third win against a top ten team. With returning back to home again to take on a only run first team, expect the tough Tigers defense that held Georgia to only 121 rushing yards to improve on that win. Take the Tigers as they continue to roll.
Prediction: LSU Tigers -7.0
Full-Game Total Pick
Once again, the Mississippi State Bulldogs have one of the best defenses in the league. The Bulldogs will be able to slow dow the Tigers offense for a bit, however once they really start to open up the playbook, this game will start putting some points on the board. Coming into this game the Under is 4-0 in Bulldogs last 4 games in October as well 5-0 in Bulldogs last 5 conference games.
