NC State Wolfpack vs. Clemson Tigers
Where and when: Clemson Memorial Stadium, Clemson, South Carolina, Saturday, 3:30 pm EST
The 19th ranked NC State Wolfpack take on the 4th ranked Clemson Tigers at Clemson Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina, on Saturday at 3:30 pm EST. In their last outing, the Wolfpack were 28-23 home winners over the Boston College Eagles on October 6th as BC rallied in the second half after being down by a 21-3 score at the half to outscore NC State 20-7, yet would fall short of the win due to 308 yards passing by Ryan Finley along with two touchdown passes. The Tigers won easily in their last time out versus Wake Forest on October 6th by a 63-3 score as they came two yards shy of 700 total yards of offense. These two teams last met on November 4, 2017 as the Tigers picked up the 38-31 road win, yet the Wolfpack covered as 10-point home underdogs. The Wolfpack is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings at Clemson Memorial while the under is 5-1 in the last six games in South Corallina amongst these teams.
Clemson destroys Wake Forest before bye
The Tigers averaged 11.8 yards per rush along with racking up 227 yards in the air on the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest in their last time out while cruising to a huge blowout road victory on October 6th. Travis Etienne (10 rushes, 167 yards, three TD’s) and Lyn-J Dixon (10 rushes, 163 yards, two TD’s) led the attack while Adam Choice also had 128 yards and a rushing TD in the game. Trevor Lawrence threw for 175 yards along with two touchdown passes in the game as the Tigers went up 28-0 at the half while holding the Deacons to only 75 yards passing while holding them to a 24% third down conversion rate for the game (5 for 21).
Clemson’s 28th ranked rush defense would, however, give up 175 yards in the game, 50 yards over their per game average, as Wake Forest Averaged 3.4 yards per carry, however, the game was never in doubt for Clemson as they remained unbeaten while winning their third road game of the season.
Finley leads Wolfpack to victory
NC State’s contest versus the Boston College Eagles in their last outing was much more competitive as the Eagles, after being down 18 at the half, rallied late in the second half due to a rushing and receiving touchdown from Ben Glines along with a blocked punt return by Travis Levy. Nonetheless, Ryan Finley gave the home team a cushion late in the third quarter as he connected with Kelvin Harmon to put the Wolfpack up 28-3 just before the Eagles awoke out of their slumber.
Finley ended the game with 308 yards, 2 TD’s, along with two picks, however, the rushing attack racked up 225 yards with Reggie Gallaspy Jr. leading the way with 104 yards and two rushing scores for the Wolfpack. Solid defense paved the way for NC State in the victory as they allowed only one third-down conversion for the game while allowing the Eagles to possess the ball for only 18 minutes.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
While the Wolfpack have really had a great season leading up to this game while also having a bit of success playing at Death Valley in the past, look for Clemson to give their usual tough performance at home in racking up a close victory in this contest. As stated, both teams are coming into this game with much confidence and will certainly be looking to extend their stellar play. Nonetheless, the Tigers play very well at home and with a dangerous opponent like NC State coming to town, expect them to have their A game in which to pick up a victory on Saturday afternoon.
Prediction: Pick: Clemson Tigers -850
Full-Game Total Pick
While both teams possess solid playmakers on the offensive side of the ball along with having solid quarterbacks at the helm, I will back the under in this contest as the Tigers have been tough to beat at home with the under being the call in all three of their contests this year. And while I can certainly see the Tigers locking down an average rushing attack for NC State in this game, it will be interesting to witness the matchup between Finley and the 6th ranked passing offense for the Wolfpack as they square off versus the 6th ranked pass defense for Clemson that is allowing 153 yards per game. In all, this game will be low scoring and competitive as the first and second place squads within the Atlantic division of the ACC will each seek to control the trenches to come up with a hard fought win.
Prediction: Pick: Under 58.5
Full-Game Prop Bet
Clemson has been awful versus the spread this season in going 2-4, overall. On the other hand, NC State was well on their way to being 4-1 ATS while being 4-0 in this area in their last four outings until the Eagles rallied in the second half of their last contest. With that being said, Finley has led this Wolfpack team well this season and I feel as if he will play solid versus a stout Clemson defensive secondary in an all-important matchup on Saturday. With that being said, expect the road team to cover the 17 points as the Tigers, while being one of the most dominant teams in the country, have had spells on offense to where they suffer from inconsistency.
Prediction: Pick: NC State Wolfpack +17
Half-Time Side Pick
While Clemson has taken care of business at home all season, they have not been very good versus the spread in 2018 in going only 2-4 for the year. Also, in their last home game versus the Orange, they labored throughout the game on offense, thus allowing for only a four point home victory. With that being the case, the Wolfpack will certainly remain in this game due to their passing attack as Finley will exploit an inconsistent pass defense for Clemson. It is for this reason that I will take the road team and the points as the second period comes to a close.
Prediction: Pick: NC State Wolfpack +10
Half-Time Total Bet
With the home field advantage, expect the Tigers to have a leg up in this matchup. Combine this with the fact that the under has been the result in all three of the Tigers’ home games this season, I will certainly back the under to be the logical play at the half. It would also be important to note that three of the last four matchups amongst these teams at Clemson were under results, thus allowing me to feel as if the first half will be a low-scoring affair from two teams that are battling for first place within the Atlantic division of the ACC.
Prediction: Pick: Under 28.5
Half-Time Prop Prediction
NC State will bring their best into this contest in that they will certainly be playing one of the best teams in the country. And while Finley, as stated, may very well find some headway versus a shaky defensive secondary for the Tigers, expect Clemson to also gain some momentum offensively while going up at the half as a result. The home team make some big plays on both sides of the ball throughout the first half while NC State will continuously battle within the trenches; However, the Tigers will go into the half with a slim advantage that they will carry over into the second half.
Prediction: Pick: Clemson Tigers -500
