Old Dominion Monarchs at Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
College Football Week 8: Saturday, October 20th 2018 7:30 PM EST TIME
The Old Dominion Monarchs are looking for their second win of the season as they head into the Western Kentucky to take on the Hilltoppers. Both teams have had awful seasons, however there could be some light on the year as they are looking for the second win of the season. Who will get that second win of the season Saturday?
The Old Dominion Monarchs are looking for an upset win as they head into Western Kentucky. However even if they are the underdogs, they do come into this game with the same record as the Hilltoppers. The potential of winning their second game is sky high right now. The Monarchs come into this game with losing against the Marshall Thundering Herd with the final score being 42-20. It is now a three-game losing streak for them as they continue to turn the ball over which has been one of their biggest problems this season.

Let’s see if the Monarchs can turn the season around as they have at least turned the ball over twice in each game. There is some better opportunity for them as the Hilltoppers have only forced the ball over four times this whole season.
Where is the running game?
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers were hoping they can have a brand new running game they can unleash on the season, however they should of fixed the offensive line first. The Hilltoppers come into this game with losing two straight games against the Marshall Thundering Herd and recently Charlotte 49ers. Against the 49ers, it should have not been a problem at all to get the running game going, but they only managed just 36 rushing yards on the whole game. It was one of the worst performances in school history. As stated above, the Hilltoppers also like to give the ball away a lot as Christmas is practically every single Saturday for them.
🚨 TOUCHDOWN TOPS! 🚨
On his 3rd career rush, it’s KEVARIS THOMAS with the 4-yard score! 👊

There also could be a quarterback change coming up for the Hilltoppers as they have had no success with their man Davis Shanley leading the team. Western Kentucky turned the ball over three times, but got some excitement late in the game as they brought in true freshmen quarterback Steve Duncan. The 6’4 almost 250 pound quarterback is a brick wall that will stand in the pocket and find the open receiver. He finished the night with 60 yards passing and a touchdown.
- Hilltoppers are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games following a straight up loss.
- Hilltoppers are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games following an ATS loss.
- Hilltoppers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
- Hilltoppers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in October.
- Monarchs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
- Monarchs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Right now I’m backing the Monarchs. Both teams do not bring a lot on the table, however I would rather get the free points against another weak team. If the Western Kentucky would make the change to start their true freshmen quarterback star, I might change my pick on this game. I’ll update if needed, but for the moment, take the points.
Prediction: OLD DOMINION +5
Full-Game Total Pick
Both of these teams do not know how to score, They are barley pulling in over 250 total yards per game, but they are allowing near 350 total yards per game. Two bad defenses means a lot of points are going to be scored. The Over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and that is why you should lean toward that way.
