The San Jose State Spartans and the Utah State Aggies will both be looking for a Mountain West conference victory when they play this Saturday afternoon at Romney Stadium. San Jose State enters this contest with a 1-8 record including a 24-9 defeat at the hands of Wyoming last week. Utah State enters this game on an eight-game winning streak including a blowout 56-17 victory against Hawaii last week.
Utah State’s Offense Cannot Stop Scoring
Utah State entered the season with the hopes of competing in the Mountain West. So far this season, the team has exceeded expectations and is currently on pace to qualify for the conference title game. The Aggies have dominated every facet of the game throughout the entirety of the season as they have blown out the majority of their conference foes. Utah State is currently 5-0 in conference games and will look to make it 6-0 against San Jose State this weekend.
G-BRIGHT punches in his 3rd touchdown of the night and 104 yards!

Utah State’s offense is led by star quarterback Jordan Love. This season, Love has thrown for 19 touchdowns and over 2,100 passing yards while throwing four interceptions. However, Love has also been a huge factor on the ground as he has also rushed for five touchdowns. Love thrives in front of the Utah State crowd and he will look to put together another dominating performance against this inferior conference foe. Look for Love to play extremely well if Utah State plans on covering this huge spread.
Utah State’s offense currently ranks second in the country in points per game with 50.1 and is also averaging 269.3 passing yards per game which ranks 33rd. Expect Utah State’s offense to have a big game against San Jose State who has struggled all season long.
San Jose State Resumes Losing Ways
San Jose State started the season looking to improve upon its 2-11 season last year. However, the team’s season imploded as soon as it begun as the team lost its first seven games with three of those losses coming in conference games. However, San Jose State did manage to defeat conference rival UNLV to push its record to 1-3 in conference play. Then, reality struck once more as the Spartans were dismantled by Wyoming by a score of 24-9 last week.

San Jose State’s offense is led by junior quarterback Josh Love who is having a solid season. This season, he has thrown for 13 passing touchdowns and over 1,700 passing yards. Love was tremendous in the team’s victory over UNLV as he threw four touchdown passes and 335 passing yards to get his team the victory. Unfortunately for him, UNLV’s defense does not hold a candle to Utah State’s defense. Love will need to play well if San Jose State plans on keeping this game close. However, the odds are extremely against him.
San Jose State’s offense currently ranks 97th in the country in points per game with 25.8 and is also averaging 65.8 rushing yards per game which ranks 130th. Expect San Jose State’s offense to struggle running the ball once more this Saturday.
- Aggies are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game.
- Aggies are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games.
- Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
- Underdog is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 meetings.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Anytime one has to lay over four touchdowns with a team in college football, there better be a serious differential in talent between the two teams. Luckily for us, that is exactly what this matchup consists of. Utah State is, in my opinion, the most underrated team in the entire country and can put up points in bunches. Meanwhile, San Jose State’s offense is below average and its defense is absolutely atrocious. I expect the Aggies to score on almost every offensive possession and to win this game by at least five touchdowns. For that reason, I think the Aggies will cover the spread.
Prediction: Utah State -31
Full-Game Total Pick
The Utah State Aggies have a prolific offense that can score as efficiently as anyone else in the country. At the same time, San Jose State has one of the worse defenses in the entire FBS and should be unable to stop the Aggies at any point in this matchup. I expect that Aggies to put up at least 60 points by themselves so the over is a fantastic play here.
Prediction: Over 63
