The Pittsburgh Panthers will be going for their third consecutive win and increase their lead in the ACC’s Coastal division when they take on the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday.
Hokies Trying To Snap Two-Game Losing Streak
The Hokies have a lot of young players this season and were expected to struggle but not too many people expected the team to be 4-4 at this point in the season. They will be trying to snap a two-game losing streak and get closer to becoming bowl eligible when they face the Panthers on Saturday.

Virginia Tech is averaging 30.8 points per game, which is 57th in the country, but they have failed to score 30 points in their last four games. The injury to starting quarterback Josh Jackson is partly to blame for their offensive struggles, but the team will need to play better offensively if they want to snap their losing streak and keep their 26-year bowl streak alive.
Ryan Willis has done a decent job in place of Jackson, completing 59.5 percent of his passes for 1,539 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions, but he only has two wins in his five starts. Steven Peoples leads the team with 497 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He should be able to pick up big yards on the ground against a Pittsburgh team that is giving up 169 rushing yards per game.
Defense has been Virginia Tech’s calling card for years, but the team has struggled defensively, giving up 28.4 points per game. They have given up at least 30 points in three of their last four games and will need to turn things around to get the win over Pittsburgh.
Panthers Hoping To Exploit Hokies Run Defense
The Panthers have done a great job over the past month, winning three games in a row and three of their last four games. They will try to win their fourth consecutive game and their fourth game in their last five contests when they face the Hokies.

Pittsburgh has had a lot of success on the ground this season, rushing for 230.8 yards per game, which is 20th in the country. Qadree Ollison leads the team with 819 rushing yards and seven touchdowns this season. With the Hokies struggling against the run this season, the Panthers will try to exploit their run defense in this game.
If they can’t run the ball effectively, they should be able to throw the ball against a Hokies secondary that is giving up 243.9 passing yards per game.
Kenny Pickett hasn’t had to throw the ball much this season, but he has completed 59.9 percent of his passes for 1,217 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions. He will need to do a better job protecting the ball to avoid giving the Hokies a chance in this game.
