The Syracuse Orange have struggled to find consistency on the field over the last few weeks, falling in four out of their last five contests. The Orange are coming off a convincing win over the Duke Blue Devils.
Meanwhile, the Louisville Cardinals have struggled to find consistency, having won three out of their last five games. The Cardinals are fresh off an encouraging win on the road over the NC State Wolfpack.
Orange struggling to find defensive consistencyThe 2019 season has had plenty of ups and downs for the Orange that has seen them struggle to find consistency on the field. That has led to them falling under the .500 mark on the year with their lackluster play that has come largely from their defense that has been one of the worst in the nation this season. Syracuse is currently allowing 438.9 yards per contest, including 189.8 rushing yards per contest. Their inability to stop the run has been a major problem and a large reason why they are in danger of even being bowl eligible this season. They were able to top the Blue Devils in convincing fashion last week, but they have continued to falter in the wrong direction.

The Orange have allowed than 35 points in each of their last two games played, which has put their offense in a tough spot of trying to come back from big deficits, which they have largely been unable to with four straight losses prior to last Saturday's game. Sophomore quarterback Tommy Devito has been productive this year as he has 2,180 passing yards with 17 touchdown passes to five interceptions. Devito has thrown five touchdown passes in the last two games, which he was surprisingly sparsely used against Duke. He had completed just 6-of-15 passes for 105 yards with two touchdown passes. If the Orange hope to pull out a road win, they need their offense to step it up.
Cardinals' balanced attack has led the chargeLike the Orange, the 2019 season has had plenty of ups and downs for the Cardinals as they have been able to stay above the .500 mark for much of the season. They have had some tough losses this year with a pair of them in their last five games played. That included a convincing drumming at the hands of the defending national champion Clemson Tigers, who eased past them at home. However, Louisville has taken some strides forward with their play as of late that has already guaranteed them a trip to a bowl game. The team has had some strong production from their offense this year as they are averaging 32.3 points per contest along with 437.9 total offensive yards per contest.
Freshman running back Javian Hawkins has been a major factor out of the backfield with 1,045 rushing yards with six touchdowns. Nearly all of his production has come in the running game this season, he has tallied a pair of 100 rushing yard performances in the last five contests while posting more than 60 rushing yards in each of those games. He has been a major reason why the Cardinals are averaging 199.0 rushing yards per contest, which should be a tremendous factor against the Orange's terrible run defense. Although they have had their fair share of struggles defensively as well, the game should play out in their favor at home. Expect them to come out on top in what should be a shootout.

Full-Game Side Bet
It will be an intense matchup between the two ACC Schools that bring forth some rivalry tension, but the Cardinals hold the edge in this contest behind their offensive balance. It should see Hawkins make his presence felt with a strong outing that paces Louisville to a much-needed win at home. It will be close early, but not late at Cardinal Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Prediction: Louisville -10
Full-Game Total Pick
This is a matchup between two struggling defense that have each allowed north of 400 offensive yards against them per game. That Cardinals may hold a slight edge, but it's hard to overlook that both teams have struggled defensively. Expect this to be a high-scoring affair.
