The 6 - 2 Georgia State Panthers have already claimed bowl eligibility, but an appearance in the Sun Belt Conference title game is also in sight.

The Panthers are 3 - 1 in conference play and a half-game back of Appalachian State in the East Division standings and oops... Look who is on deck? The Mountaineers next weekend in Atlanta. Wooo, that oughta be a damn good game to watch next Saturday with what could be the game that decides the division champion?!

The Warhawks have lost 3 of their last 4 games and their defense has been trampled on, stomped on, and lit up, to say the least. Monroe did make a game of it last weekend against Arkansas State, but the 48 - 41 loss only puts another number in the L column. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades!

Panthers looking to stay in the chase for C-USA title game

The Panthers started the season in fine fashion with their win against Tennesee, and the writing was on the wall about where this team was going in 2019. After a dismal 2 - 10 campaign last season in Shawn Elliott's second year in Atlanta, the head coach now has his team bowl eligible and looking for more.

More being a possible shot to reach the Sun Belt Conference title game with a 4 - 0 finish to the regular season. With the heads-up game against App State next weekend, that could be the match that decides some big things in this conference.

Not many pundits had the Panthers fighting for top honors in the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference, and many had them finishing as far as 4th place. Not so much!

Panther QB Dan Ellington is having a productive campaign, as his 18 - 4 TD to INT ratio attests. Now let's throw in what he does with his legs, and now we're cooking with gas, baby!

Ellington has added 512 yards of rushing offense to the party this season, and he averages 4.4 yards a pop from those 116 carries. He has found paydirt 4 times on the ground to add to his TD total, as he and Tra Barnett have done some major damage!

Barnett is sitting with 928 yards in his final campaign with the Panthers, and that obviously tells you that he will be looking to topple that magic number this weekend.

We all know that 1,000 plateau is what we look for, and he should smash that to bits with 4 games to play in the regular season, a possible title game and the bowl appearance coming too. That could give him 6 games to add to those totals in all, and if that happens then we know the Panthers are winning!

The 10th ranked rushing attack should be in full stride as slight favorites this weekend on the road.

Warhawks needing a win to get a step closer to .500

The Warhawks season is almost becoming one to forget, and yet the line setters are only listing Georgia State as -2.5 favorites in this game.

That is odd considering the rushing attack might just overwhelm this Warhawk defense that has been scorched all too often this year.

There are 130 FBS teams, right? Well, when you are sitting in the 129th slot in total yards allowed per game (494.8) I think you see the issue on the defensive side of the ball.

How does 125th in rushing and 127th in points allowed look to you? Can I stop with the stats now, please?

Offensively, the Warhawks are at least respectable, as they sit 29th in the land in rushing yards per outing with 208.6 a contest.

That's because Josh Johnson is an animal out of the backfield for the Warhawks. Johnson has accumulated 849 yards on the ground and averages 6.2 yards a carry.

While Georgia State has their mobile QB in action, let's not forget what Caleb Evans can do as a dual-threat himself. Evans has thrown the ball for 1.687 yards and toted the rock for 511 more yards this year. Evans has a 12 - 5 TD to INT ratio and 8 scores in the run game to add to the mix.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet

Well, I will just spell it out for you. My thought process before I even started writing this up was that we would see Georgia State do well and win this game easily.

First of all, the -2 made me say to myself, "okay, wait a second now? Why only 2 because I see 10 in a 41 - 31 type of a win for the traveling Panthers."

Secondly, the friggin total had to land at 75? I mean really? So I suspect we might see a 41 - 31 game and those 72 points I thought were high, to begin with. So to see that total up here makes my thought have to suggest an under here? F**k Me! LoL

A damn field goal pushes that 75 if it goes to 41 - 34 with a last possession battle on our hands. Ugh!

Regardless, I stick to my first thought and see where the cookie crumbles!

GA State -2 is the play on the side.

Prediction: GA State -2

Full-Game Total Pick

I moved it down to 2* because the hell if a damn field goal would push that with my thought process as it is. I told you all I had to say in my side preview, so this total just goes with it. Don't bet it with vigor man, because I see 72 and they see 75 and who knows what could happen here. This could be 34 - 31 at halftime for God's sake and I wouldn't even be shocked. Pissed a little, but not shocked LoL

I hate taking unders with offenses like these, QBs like these, and Sun Belt totals in general for that matter. 70 F**king 5? Damnit, Jim, I'm a Doctor not a sports handicapper... yeah, sorry I had a Star Trek moment there, phew!

I have used the damn F-bomb twice regarding this total, so you know it's coming in Over, right? I do too, OK FINE! I move it to the Over because I talked myself into playing this Over when that 41 - 34 does hit the board. At least the push happens, but they better MAKE THE DAMN KICK!! LOL So, I change my mind and still offer GA State but let's play this total over in hopes I caught it. Or hey, fade my ass because I thought too much or you don't like the play, whatever LOL

Prediction: Un... 75? No Wait, OVER ME!
