We have the Dr. Pepper Big-12 Championship game for you to consider when the number seven ranked Oklahoma Sooners meet the number nine ranked Baylor Bears. This will be the second meeting this season between the two schools; Oklahoma defeated Baylor at home just three weeks ago by a score of 34-31, so you can bet that Baylor would like to avenge that earlier loss.
Saturday marks the twenty-ninth meeting between the two football teams with the Sooners holding a 25-3 edge, including a five-game winning streak in their rivalry.
Stout Baylor DefenseThe seventh-ranked Baylor Bears have had a fantastic season with its only loss coming against these same Oklahoma Sooners. This Baylor defense bends, but it doesn’t break. The Bears rank thirteenth in the nation in points allowed (18.5) and thirty-ninth in total yards allowed. The 34 points Baylor allowed in its loss to Oklahoma was the most any team had scored against this defense, and stopping the Sooners is their top priority on Saturday.
Baylor scores an average of 36.2 points per game and can score on anyone. Junior quarterback Charlie Brewer has been super this season, throwing for 2935 yards, 20 touchdowns with just six interceptions. Brewer has also scampered for 340 yards with ten touchdowns and is dangerous with his feet and through the air.
Senior wideout Denzel Mims has caught 61 balls for 945 yards with 11 touchdowns and is the main man for Brewer. Sophomore wide receiver Ty’Quan Thornton has been big this season, hauling in 39 passes for 682 yards with four touchdowns and second-year wideout R.J. Sneed caught 37 passes for 412 yards with three touchdowns this season.
The Bears have a pair of running backs to make a dent in the Sooners on Saturday, hopefully. Junior running back John Lovett has rushed for 618 yards, five touchdowns with an additional 64 receiving yards. Senior running back JaMychal Hasty has rushed for 602 yards with seven touchdowns plus an extra 177 receiving yards this season.
Sooners Incredible OffenseOklahoma enters this contest with a 9-1 record and is the sixth-ranked team in the country. Its only loss came on the road to the then number twenty-four ranked Kansas State Wildcats by a score of 48-41. For the Sooners, its all about the offense, and they score an average of 44.3 yards per game and is up against one of the defenses in the country in the Baylor Bears.
Heisman Trophy candidate, senior quarterback Jalen Hurts leads the Sooners with 3347 passing yards, 31 touchdowns with just six interceptions. Hurts has rushed for an additional 1217 yards with 18 trips to the end zone, and it's safe to say that the Sooners go how Hurts goes.
Junior wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has caught 50 passes for 1035 yards, and his 14 receiving touchdowns are third in the nation this season. Sophomore wideout Charleston Rambo hauled in 40 balls for 711 yards with five touchdowns and senior wide receiver Lee Morris has one touchdown on 330 receiving yards this season.
Sophomore running back Kennedy Brooks has rushed for 917 yards, four touchdowns plus an extra 55 receiving yards and junior running back Rhomondre Stevenson has 467 rushing yards with five touchdowns for the Sooners this season.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
I’m going to lay the points and play the Sooners to cover the spread in this matchup. Baylor has a fantastic defense, but Jalen Hurts and the Sooners are a better offensive team, and that is how this game is going to play out. Whatever the Sooners defense allows, Oklahoma will be able to exceed and then some. The Sooners' defense has also stepped up, and while Baylor is going to get their points, Oklahoma will get at least three stops, and the Sooners will cover the spread in this game.
Full-Game Total Pick
I expect a shootout and I believe these two teams will go over the total in this matchup. We have two talented offenses and Baylor is going to score on the Sooners defense and will likely end up with around 28 points. I have Oklahoma scoring over 40 points and there’s me over. I will play the OVER in this game.
