The Line: Notre Dame -13
Notre Dame is coming off a tough one-point loss to a ranked Georgia team and they head to Boston College as a pretty big road favorite. The Fighting Irish played pretty good D in the game, but their offense struggled and they only had 266 total yards. They could really use a win in this game, as in their next one they hit the road again to face Michigan State.
Boston College lost their last game badly by 24 points in a sloppy effort where they had four turnovers and only scored 10 points. They did win their season opener, but they have a tough road early on in the season facing Notre Dame in this game and then hitting the road to face a top five Clemson team in their next one.
Boston College has covered the spread in five of their last six games facing Notre Dame.
Irish need more balance
Notre Dame lost to Georgia 20-19 in their last game where they had 211 passing yards, but only 55 rushing yards. They need more balance in this game and should run the ball better after facing a tough UGA defense in their last game. QB Brandon Wimbush was 19 for 39 for 211 yards and while he was not picked off he did not pass for a TD and he had three fumbles losing two of them. Josh Adams was the leading rusher and he had 53 yards and only averaged 2.8 yards per carry. Look for him to get more carries, as well as yards, in this game facing a BC team that gave up 158 rushing yards in their last game. Adams was also the leading receiver in the loss to Georgia catching six balls for 60 yards.
Turnovers kill Eagles
Boston College lost to Wake Forest 34-10 in their last game where they had four turnovers, which really hurt. They did not force one turnover and for the game they only had four fewer yards than Wake, but still lost by 24 points. Anthony Brown passed for 119 yards with one TD was picked off three times before Daruis Wade came in passing for 44 yards with no TD and no INT. The Eagles rushed for 142 yards with four players having at least 21 yards on the ground. Thadd Smith led the team with 46 rushing yards with 32 coming on one run and A.J. Dillon rushed for 43 yards, but only averaged 2.9 yards per carry. Facing Notre Dame it is vital that Boston College run the ball well and avoid the turnover and if they have multiple turnovers again this game may get ugly quick.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are:
- 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game
The Boston College Eagles are:
- 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight up loss of more than 20 points
- 3-9-2 ATS in their last 14 home games
- 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home
- 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in September
BC has covered in five of their last six games facing Notre Dame and the underdog has covered in nine of the last 11 games between these teams. Well, neither of those trends will continue in this game. Notre Dame will rack up the rushing yards in the game while Boston College will have trouble moving the chains. The Fighting Irish will get the W in this game and cover the spread as well even giving 13 points on the road.
PICK: Notre Dame -13
I dig every sport and the NFL is my favorite. My team is the Redskins and my 2nd favorite is whoever is playing the Cowboys! I am a great handicapper and if you don’t believe me just ask. I don’t just write about betting on games I actually bet on them and I have done well, which is why it is a good idea to follow my picks.
