Purdue Boilermakers (1-1 SU, 2-0 ATS, 1-1 O/U) vs. Missouri Tigers (1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS, 1-1 O/U)
NCAAF: Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 4 p.m. ET Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field Columbia, MO
The Line: Missouri -7.5
Purdue is coming off their first win of the season and they took a ranked Louisville team to overtime in their season opener. They are a road betting favorite in this game facing a Missouri team that is 1-1 and recently fired their defensive coordinator/ They put up 44 points in their last game and even put up 28 on Louisville so their offense has been playing well.
It was not long ago that Missouri was a legit team, but they are coming off a bad loss and after only two games they fired their defensive coordinator. They could use a win to boost morale, especially since after this game they face two teams in their next three games in SEC play that are currently in the top 25.
Big day on the offensive side of the ball
Purdue beat Ohio 44-21 to pick up their first win of the season in their last game where they racked up 558 total yards. They got off to a great start in the game taking a 34-7 halftime lead and while they gave up 396 yards they did force two turnovers. QB David Blough had a solid game going 11 for 13 for 235 yards with three TD and no INT and Cole Herdman and Brycen Hopkins each hauled in a TD and each had at least 85 receiving yards. Tario Fuller rushed for 142 yards with a TD averaging 8.9 yards per carry and overall the Boilermakers rushed for 263 yards. The Purdue offense will be facing a Missouri defense with a new DC and that gave up 423 yards in their last game,
Not the best conference start
Missouri lost to South Carolina 31-13 in their last game, which was their first loss and first SEC loss of the season. They did not play well on either side of the ball and they committed three turnovers while not forcing any and they only scored three points in the 2nd half. QB Drew Lock was only 14 for 32 for 245 yards with one TD and two INT and Damarea Crockett rushed for 97 yards averaging a legit 5.4 yards per carry. Missouri has issues, especially on the defensive side of the football, but at least they will be facing a Purdue defense that gave up 236 passing yards and 160 rushing yards in their last game. The Tigers scored 72 points and racked up 815 total yards in their season opener against Missouri State, but then struggled playing with the big boys last week in the loss to South Carolina and how will they fare facing Purdue from the Big 10?
The Purdue Boilermakers are:
- 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games
- 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game
The Missouri Tigers are:
- 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS loss
- 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall
Purdue has covered the spread in their last four road games and are one OT win away from being 2-0 and beating a ranked team. On the other side of the coin, Mizzou lost badly in their last game and they recently shook up their coaching staff. Not only will Purdue cover the spread in this game, but they will also get the W and move to 2-1 on the season.
