Line: Troy -7
The Trojans and Aggies have split their first two games of the season. Troy lost to Boise State but defeated Alabama State, while New Mexico State narrowly lost to Arizona before beating New Mexico by two points.
Jamarius Henderson has been sensational for Troy in two games on the season. He’s rushed for 144 yards on 12 carries and two scores. The Trojans relied on him in its win over Alabama State. The sophomore should have continued success against New Mexico State. Brandon Silvers has yet to throw a touchdown pass for Troy. That’s something to keep an eye on Saturday. He has thrown two interceptions.
Troy, as a unit, has averaged over five yards a carry. It’s the team’s biggest strength. The defense has been solid so far. Boise State scored 17 points on offense against Troy’s defense. The Broncos added a punt return touchdown, too. Troy managed to pick off Boise State once, while sacking two Boise State quarterbacks four times.
Coming Off a Win
New Mexico State took care of its rival New Mexico a week after it nearly beat Arizona State. The Sun Devils aren’t very good, but it was nice to see New Mexico State play a Pac 12 team competitively. The Aggies are led by Tyler Rogers and a nice passing attack. Rogers has thrown seven touchdowns already, but he’s also thrown three interceptions. The Aggies rely heavily on Rogers’s passing for the team’s success.
The Aggies defense made plays when necessary against New Mexico. The Aggies forced four turnovers, picking off Lamar Jordan twice. New Mexico was forced to use two quarterbacks in the process. New Mexico State had four tackles for losses in the win over New Mexico.
