Tulane Green Wave (1-1) at Oklahoma Sooners (2-0)

The Tulane Green Wave hit the road to take on the no. 5 Oklahoma Sooners for a Saturday night contest. Oklahoma is expected to climb in the rankings after defeating no. 2 Ohio State on Saturday night. The Sooners are led by their star quarterback Baker Mayfield who has 715 passing yards and six touchdowns. Mayfield is one of the early favorites to win the Heisman Trophy Award. Tulane has been reliant on a defense that has allowed 35 points and forced three turnovers in their first two games. The Green Wave had success in their ground attack with 487 rushing yards in the two games. Dontrell Hilliard leads the team with 104 yards.
Green Wave fall to Midshipmen
The Tulane Green Wave lost 23-21 to the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday. The Green Wave had a chance to get the ball back with two minutes left but received a penalty of fourth and 1 for too many players on the field. Tulane’s offense struggled for a majority of the contest. A big part of it was due to an injury to starter Jonathan Banks who left the contest after taking a hit in the second quarter. Backup Jonathan Brantley had on 58 passing yards on 5/8 completions. The signal-caller led Tulane with 73 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Dontrell Hilliard was contained to 68 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. Navy won the contest despite two turnovers to none by Tulane. The Midshipmen had 326 total yards to Tulane’s 262.
Sooners pick up huge road win
The no. 5 Oklahoma Sooners beat the no. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes 31-16 on te road on Saturday night. With the massive win, the Sooners will have control of their own destiny for a BCS Championship Game. The Sooners broke the game open in the second half after each team only had a field goal to show in the first 30 minutes. Baker Mayfield led the Sooners with 386 passing yards and three touchdowns. Trey Sermon led the ground attack with 62 rushing yards on 17 carries. The key was their defense as they shut down J.T. Barrett to 183 passing yards and an interception. The Sooners had 490 total yards while the Buckeyes had 350. Oklahoma took control of the game with 35 minutes of possession. It was the Buckeyes first home loss since Nov. 21, 2015.
