The South Alabama Jaguars are on the road this week against the Memphis Tigers. The Jaguars come in 1-2 on the season while the Tigers are 2-1. Memphis has yet to lose at home this year scoring a combined 125 points in their two home games. Can you say explosive?
South Alabama Looking for Their First Road Win
The Jaguars are coming into this one after their first win of the season over Texas State 41-31. They had a fourth quarter rally to earn the win.
Senior QB Evan Orth threw two fourth quarter touchdowns to lead the comeback for the Jaguars. Orth has completed 65.6% of his passes on the season so far. He’ll need to keep up that kinds of efficiency if he’s hoping to stay with the high powered Memphis attack in this one.
The Jaguars defense has not been very good this year allowing 38.7 points per game. Facing an offense like they will this week don’t expect that number to go down.
Memphis Rolling at Home
The Tigers have been unstoppable at home this season and their only loss of the season was by one point on the road against Navy. They scored 66 and 59 points in their two home games this year and will likely run over the Jaguars in a similar fashion this week.
Memphis QB Brady White thew five touchdowns last week against Georgia State. He’s now got 772 yards yards passing on the season with 10 TD’s to just 1 interception. White is should have a field day against this Jaguars defense. Look for the ball to be in the air early and often in this one for Memphis.
- Tigers are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game.
- Tigers are 7-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
- Tigers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 home games.
- Jaguars are 4-12 ATS in their last 16 road games.
- Jaguars are 4-17 ATS in their last 21 games following a straight up win.
- Jaguars are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
With the suspect defense of the Jaguars there is just no way I can pick against Memphis in this one. The Tigers offense is just way too high powered. Especially at home.
The Jaguars are just 4-17 ATS in their last 21 games following a SU win. They are also just 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games on the road.
When looking at the other side, the Tigers are 7-1 ATS against teams with losing records while also being 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 overall.
Prediction: Memphis Tigers -28.5
Full-Game Total Pick
There are a lot of strong trends to the over between these two teams and with the way Memphis scores at home, and the way South Alabama loves to surrender points, the over looks really good for this one.
The over is 5-1 in the Jaguars last 6 games against teams with winning records and it’s also 12-5 in their last 17 games against non conference opponents.
When looking at Memphis’ side of things, the over is 8-1 in their last 9 non conference match-up and 10-3 in t heir last 13 following an ATS win.
Prediction: Over 69.5
