The New York Giants (0-5) will be fighting for their first win of the season when they take on the Washington Football Team (1-4) on Sunday. It’ll be a divisional battle between these two NFC East teams. The Giants are currently last in the NFC East and tied for last in both the conference and league as a whole. Washington is only faring slightly better, being third in the division, and in a tie for the second-worst in the conference overall. The last time these teams met was in December of last year, where Washington fell to the Giants 41-35 in overtime.

(Injury updates and line movements are updated as of Sunday Morning.)

Line Movements:

There has been some slight movement on this contest during the week. After opening as a 3.5-point favorite, the Giants currently find themselves favored by 2.5 or two points in this clash, depending on the sportsbook. The bets have been split down the middle in this one.

With the total, the number originally opened up at 44.5 points and it has remained edged down this week. It has remained at 43, though a couple of sportsbooks have it down to 43.5 points. The bets on the total have been at 65% on the Over.

Game-time Weather: The temperature at kickoff is expected to be in the low-60s and will reach the mid-60s during the contest. At kickoff, there will be partly sunny skies though clouds will roll in as the game goes on. There is no rain in the forecast for this contest, despite the increasing cloud cover. Winds are projected to come from the southeast at five to 10 miles an hour.

Washington Looks To Break Losing Streak

After winning their first game of the season, things haven't gone well for Washington under their new leadership. Since Ron Rivera became the team's boss, they’ve had four consecutive losses where they’ve lost by 14 points or more. Even with 2020’s losing streak, they’re faring better than they were at this point last season. In 2019, Washington ended week five of the season without a single win and would finish off the year with only three wins across the entire regular season. Their most recent loss has been their worst of the season. They faced off against the LA Rams, who are tied for third in the conference. They suffered a 20-point loss by the end of the 30-10 game.

Washington’s total yards were abysmal in their contest against the Rams. They only had 108 total yards, with 70 passing and 38 rushing. They only had possession for 24:25 of the game, and during that time, only managed a single touchdown and field goal. Washington split their time between two quarterbacks in this game.Kyle Allencompleted nine of 13 pass attempts and was sacked twice. He scored the team’s lone touchdown on a seven-yard carry. Alex Smith connected on nine of his 17 attempted passes and was sacked six times during the game. Antonio Gibson led the team with 11 carries and 27 rushing yards, though he failed to score. Dustin Hopkins made his only field goal attempt and the only extra point opportunity the team had.

Injury Report:

OUT: DT Caleb Brantley, T Saahdiq Charles, LB Reuben Foster, G Joshua Garnett, WR Emanuel Hall, WR Kelvin Harmon, LB Josh Harvey-Clemons, DT Matt Ioannidis, G Michael Liedtke, RB Bryce Love, TE Thaddeus Moss, T David Sharpe, WR Steven Sims Jr., CB Greg Stroman

Questionable: TE Marcus Baugh, QB Dwayne Haskins, LB Cole Holcomb

Giants Still Without A Win

The New York Giants were already having a rough season. Five weeks without a single victory is the worst start that the Giants have had since 2017, where they faced a similar situation before picking up one of their three wins of the season on week six. The last time New York picked up a victory was their last game against Washington in December of last year. Already struggling, the Giants have received another blow. They’ve lost linebacker, Lorenzo Carter, for the remainder of the season. It’s been reported that he’s ruptured an Achilles tendon. This season, Carter had 14 tackles and a single sack, along with playing 89% of the team’s defensive snaps.

New York’s latest loss was to the Dallas Cowboys. It was a close game, but a pair of field goals from Dallas in the closing minutes of the game sealed a 37-34 defeat for the Giants. They had 300 total yards during the game, 211 passing and 89 rushing. In his second year, Daniel Jones completed 20 of 33 attempted passes and was sacked twice. He didn’t have a single touchdown throughout the game. Devonta Freeman led the team with 17 carries and 60 rushing yards, and a touchdown. Leading the team with 129 receiving yards across eight receptions was Darius Slayton.

Injury Report:

OUT: RB Saquon Barkley, CB Sam Beal, LB Lorenzo Carter, WR Cody Core, DB Jaquarius Landrews, S Xavier McKinney, WR Da'Mari Scott, WR Sterling Shepard, WR David Sills V, T Nate Solder, CB Shakial Taylor, CB Brandon Williams, LB Oshane Ximines

Questionable: DB Adrian Colbert, LB Kyler Fackrell, LB David Mayo, S Jabrill Peppers

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet

The Giants have yet to pick up a win this year, but they haven’t been losing by much. Even when facing top-tier opponents like the Steelers and the Rams, they’ve been losing by ten points or less. They’ve been on the cusp of winning against these big teams, and if they’re going to break out of this slump, Washington is a good team to do it against. Washington is going into this game with a depleted roster. They currently have four players out and another listed as questionable ahead of Sunday’s game. That questionable player is Kyle Allen, and if both he and Dwayne Haskins Jr are out, Washington is down two quarterbacks. This injured Washington lineup is an open door for the Giants to break into the win column.

Prediction: New York Giants -3

Full-Game Total Pick

Neither of these teams has had an easy time when it comes to their offense. They have the second and third-lowest point per game totals in the league, with Washington only scoring 17.8 points and New York only scoring 16.3 points. However, neither of them have a horrible points allowed per game, with the Giants at 26.6 and Washington at 28.4. Washington has gone under in eight of their previous nine games played in October. The Giants have gone under in four of their last five games played when allowing more than 30 points in their previous contest. Both of these low scoring teams are poised to go under the total.

Prediction: Under 43
