We have an AFC showdown to consider for Sunday when the 6-2 Buffalo Bills meet the 2-6 Cleveland Browns. The AFC East Bills are coming off a solid, 24-9 home win over the Washington Redskins and clearly remain in the NFL Playoff picture. Cleveland has lost four consecutive games including a week nine road loss to the Denver Broncos by a score of 24-19. This is a must-win for the Browns.
Bills Undefeated on Road This SeasonBuffalo has won three of its last five games and is 3-0 on the road this season. Road wins over the New York Jets, New York Giants and Tennessee Titans demonstrate these Bills are a good football team that usually defeats teams they should beat. Buffalo isn’t reporting any significant injuries for this game with Cleveland and it's all systems go for the 6-2 Bills.
Cleveland allows 216 passing yards per game and quarterback Josh Allen will have it tough but he’s thrown for 1653 yards, 10 touchdowns with seven interceptions this season. Allen has rushed for an additional 247 yards with four touchdowns and has been sacked 21 times Cleveland has an aggressive pass rush and has recorded 25 sacks this season.
Allen has four receivers he likes to target and his main guy is a wide receiver, John Brown. Brown has hauled in 42 passes for 603 yards and two touchdowns, wide receiver Cole Beasley has 337 receiving yards and three touchdowns, tight end Dawson Knox has 193 receiving yards and a touchdown and wideout Isaiah McKenzie has 192 receiving yards with one touchdown this season.
Cleveland allows 141 rushing yards per game and aside from Allen, the Bills have a pair of backs that can do damage. Frank Gore has rushed for 437 yards with three touchdowns and an additional 48 receiving yards. Running back Devin Singletary has rushed for 267 yards with two touchdowns and an additional 103 receiving yards and a touchdown this season.
Browns Must Win GameThe Cleveland Browns are off to a disappointing 2-6 start and if they want to reach the postseason, they will need a win on Sunday otherwise Cleveland can kiss the playoffs goodbye. After beating the Ravens in Baltimore, the Browns suffered road losses to San Francisco, New England and Denver with a home loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Three of those losses were to possible playoff teams so maybe the Browns aren’t as bad as its record says it is.

Buffalo allows 111 rushing yards per game and Cleveland will look to running back Nick Chubb to lead the way. Chubb has rushed for 803 yards with an additional 161 receiving yards. Running back Dontriel Hilliard has rushed for 49 yards and a pair of scores with an additional 88 receiving yards.
The Bills allow 200 passing yards per game and quarterback Baker Mayfield has had a rough sophomore season. Mayfield has thrown more interceptions (12) than touchdowns (7) but has thrown for 1963 yards this season and has suffered 23 sacks. Buffalo has recorded 20 sacks this season and could pick up a few more on Sunday.
Odell Beckham Jr was the Browns big offseason signing and he’s hauled in 39 passes for 575 yards and a touchdown. Wideout Jarvis Landry has 555 receiving yards and one touchdown this season. Tight end Ricky Seals-Jones has 155 receiving yards with a team high two receiving touchdowns and is questionable for Sunday with a knee injury.
- Browns are 5-21-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
- Browns are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
- Browns are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games on grass.
The supporting trends for this game found on Covers.com, are
- Bills are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games.
- Bills are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in November.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Cleveland is a mess but their recent losses have been to good teams and they could win on Sunday. Being a home favorite is excellent and spotting the Buffalo Bills three points against the Browns is a beautiful thing. Buffalo is going to run the ball down the Browns throats and that will open up the passing game a bit. Mayfield has two big-play receivers, and each has caught ONE touchdown each.
I will take the points and play the Bills to cover.
Prediction: Buffalo +3
Full-Game Total Pick
The weather forecast claims wind of over 15 mph on Sunday and if that is indeed the case, look for a difficult scoring day for both sides. This could wind up the Singletary and Chubb show and this game could win up like 14-10 or something similar to this. Buffalo is better at stopping the run than is Cleveland so expect a low scoring game.
I will play UNDER in this contest.
Prediction: Under 40.5
