Minnesota Vikings vs. Denver Broncos
NFL Preseason Week 1: Saturday August 11th 2018 9:00 PM EST TIME
NFL is back live on Saturday night as the Minnesota Vikings head into Denver to take on the Broncos. Both these two teams are coming into the new season with a whole new offensive outlook. Can the Vikings be able to produce the same offensive points they did a season ago? Or will the Denver Broncos showcase their new quarterback who knows a lot the opposing team.
You Like That
The Minnesota Vikings are rolling into the new season with their heads held high as they had one of the most successful seasons in franchise history. No they did not win it all, but they were pretty close to it. The best part was, they did it all with a backup quarterback in Case Keenum. However it was time to spice up the offense and they did just that with the signing of quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Cousins is now the main man in Minnesota as he is looking to throw for his fourth straight 4,000 passing yard and 25 touchdown season. With the offensive weapons around him, do not be surprised he does it easily.
With the offense looking great heading into the season, it was time for the Vikings to build up an even greater defense in the NFL Draft. Expect to see a lot of first round pick out of UCF Mike Hughes who will be bringing a pass rush that nobody has seen before. Everything is in place for the Vikings to reach glory in 2018-2019, however will it all gel together?
A New Leader Under Center
On the other side, the Denver Broncos are ready to turn the page as they head into the new season as they had one of the worst seasons in franchise history. With a 5-11 record and dead last in the AFC West, it was time for the Broncos to make a change especially on the offensive side of the ball.
They indeed tried to pick up quarterback Kirk Cousins, but he fell to the Minnesota Vikings. There next best option was to find a leader and a winner, which came to the conclusion of quarterback Case Keenum. The Broncos picked up Keenum for a two year deal as they are hoping for the same results he brought over in Minnesota.
Keenum was on fire last season with 22 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions last season. With the Broncos hopefully solving their offensive drought problem, the defense is looking scary after the NFL Draft.
The Broncos picked up NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb who could be the best pick of the draft. He is going to bring a pass rush that is needed especially to compete in a tight AFC West division. Expect Denver to showcase their new team on Saturday night.
- Broncos are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 Saturday games.
- No Trends
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Expect Denver to unleash the monster of NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb, as he will cause a problem in the first few quarters. Remember the Broncos also have some depth on the offensive side that has yet to be used the past two seasons. Could Keenum score on his former team as well? I’m pretty sure he does.
Prediction: Broncos -1
Full-Game Total Pick
Expect the most offensive production to come out of Keenum of Denver, however once the Broncos bring in their depth chart it is going to be the same mess everybody has seen for the past two years. The Broncos still get it done thanks to the defense, but they fail to score anything in the last few quarters.
Prediction: UNDER 34.5
