Winnipeg Jets vs. Nashville Predators Prediction, Preview, and Odds - 11-19-2019
On Tuesday night, the Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators will do battle in this Central Division matchup. The starting goalies are Connor Hellebuyck for Winnipeg and Pekka Rinne for Nashville. Puck drop is set for 8:00 PM ET.
Television-wise, the matchup will be broadcast on FSTN.
Jets Looking To Win Another Tough Road GameThe Winnipeg Jets are playing some of the best hockey in the Western Conference. They are third in the Central Division and 7-2-1 in their last ten games. Even though they have a -5 in goal differential, they still find themselves in the top third of the division. They have been able to score enough goals to get by in some games and they have been able to win a lot of one goal games. The Jets have won four of their last five games and three of them were one goal victories.
According to winnipegsun.com, the Jets Blake Wheeler is doing well on a new line for Winnipeg:
“Initially, when you make that switch, your focus is on the defensive end of the ice. Moving to a new position, playing with a couple of young players, it’s a lot of responsibility for all of us. You focus on that (defensive) end and using our speed to come back defensively equally as much as we’ve been using it offensively.”
In their last game, the Jets beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, on the road, 4-3. Winnipeg was out hit and out shot in this game, but still managed to get the win. They were able to get a power play goal and score on some of their quality chances. The Jets blocked a lot of shots and won a numerous amount of key face offs. Winnipeg scored throughout the game and controlled the flow. That's what they will have to do to win in another tough building. They will look to have their key guys continue to contribute in key situations.
Predators Goaltending Looking To Get Out Of A FunkThe Nashville Predators were off to a good start this season and now they have hit a mini rut. The team has lost four straight games and their goaltending isn't doing their part. Nashville has gone from being a top three team in the division to seventh. They are 4-4-2 in their last ten games and have given up 23 goals in the last four games.
According to ontheforecheck.com, Nashville isn't freaking out, but they need to fix some big issues:
“We have to do a little soul searching,” Colton Sissons admitted after Saturday’s 7-2 loss to Chicago. “It’s been a struggle, but teams go through this as we know, and we have the personnel to turn things around in a hurry.”
In their last game, the Predators lost to the Chicago Blackhawks 7-2. Nashville was down 4-0 after two periods and that was that. The Preds let six different Blackhawks beat them and Chicago is a team that hardly has any depth scoring. The usual stellar goaltender Pekka Rinne, was pulled, giving up four goals, on just 14 shots. Their backup Juuse Saros didn't do any better and gave up three goals on just 10 shots. Roman Josi scored two goals in the third, but this team needs more help than that. Both goalies have done well for most of the season and now, neither of them can find their old skills.
The top supporting trends for Nashville, found on Covers.com, are:
- Predators are 0-4 in their last 4 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game.
- Predators are 0-4 in their last 4 games as a favorite.
- Predators are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Western Conference.
The top supporting trends for Winnipeg, found on Covers.com, are:
- Jets are 4-1 in their last 5 overall.
- Jets are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Western Conference.
- Jets are 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Jets will win this game because everything is going right for them. The Predators are a desperate team and in need of some soul searching. This funk just kind of hit them out of nowhere and it happens. It's weird that Rinne is struggling so hard, but he has got to be a stop job together. Nashville has no excuses, with the amount of depth scoring that they have. Ten skaters have at least ten points and Josi is a one man wrecking crew on the power play. The Jets have Mark Scheifele, who has been a goal and assist machine for his team. Hellebuyck has played very well lately, winning three of his last four starts and they were all against some awesome teams. This game will be a high scoring shootout and the luck will still be with the Jets in the end.
Prediction: Winnipeg Jets +167
Full-Game Total Pick
Even though the Preds are desperate for some good goaltending, they won't get it in this game either. While Nashville continues to struggle with overall game play, the Jets are flying high and playing great hockey. Winnipeg has scored four plus goals in three of their last five games. Nashville has almost averaged giving up six goals a game in their last four games. The Preds are still scoring, but it's after a lot of damage has been done. Nashville has only had two low scoring games this month and it was against the New York Rangers and San Jose Sharks. They came out fast and kept playing hard throughout the game. The Predators need that type of effort and the core guys to just buckle down. It should be an interesting game of goaltending with hot and cold teams going at it. Winnipeg wins 5-4.
Prediction: Over 6.5
