Carolina Hurricanes vs. Chicago Blackhawks
NHL Hockey: Thursday, November 8th 2018 8:30 PM EST TIME
The Carolina Hurricanes are looking to get back to their winning ways as they head into Chicago as they take on the Blackhawks. As for the Blackhawks they are looking to get over the .500 hump as they are hoping for a blast in the past.
Five Game Losing Streak
The Carolina Hurricanes are in the midst of their own “Hurricane” as they enter this game with a five game losing streak. The Hurricanes opened up the season with a huge splash as they would win four of the first five games but their defense has really turned into something else. First let’s talk about the offense that has been trucking along the season. At the moment it is all Michael Ferland who leads the Hurricanes in goals scored with eight. The one who is getting the points and stars in the wins is Sebastian Aho who has 13 assists and 18 points.

Now into the important facts that will cause some problems when they take on the Blackhawks. First is their goalie Petr Mrazek. On the season he holds a 3-3-2 record with a goals against average of 2.75 and a save percentage of 88%. The Hurricanes might be looking at their backup goalie in this game as Mrazek simple has struggled on the road.
Blackhawks Much Needed Rest
I’m glad the Chicago Blackhawks are getting some rest as they enter this game with being 0-5 in their last five games. The Blackhawks during this stretch have been able to score goals, but the biggest problem being they are not showing up late in the 3rd half. They are causing unnecessary penalties and bad defense especially the back line that has caused an average of 1.4 goals in the 3rd half alone.

With that being side, the Blackhawks needed to make a change and they did. The Blackhawks fired head coach Joel Quenneville on yesterday and named Jeremy Colliton his replacement. They also parted ways with assistant coaches Kevin Dineen and Ulf Samuelsson. The team added Barry Smith as an assistant under Colliton. Now it is time for the new Blackhawks team to step forward as this new change will be great for them.
- Blackhawks are 74-34 in their last 108 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400.
- Blackhawks are 15-7 in their last 22 vs. Metropolitan.
- Hurricanes are 2-5 in their last 7 vs. Central.
- Hurricanes are 8-20 in their last 28 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game.
- Hurricanes are 7-21 in their last 28 games following a loss of 3 or more goals.
- Hurricanes are 1-5 in their last 6 road games.
- Hurricanes are 1-5 in their last 6 vs. Western Conference.
- Hurricanes are 0-5 in their last 5 overall.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Chicago Blackhawks needed a change to their team and they got it. The pressure is off and now they can return back to form and break this losing streak. Also the Hurricanes are 2-5 in the last 7 meetings in Chicago. With that being said, I’m all in on the Blackhawks to break this losing streak and get their coach the first victory.
Prediction: CHICAGO ML
Full-Game Total Pick
If the Carolina Hurricanes can stop committing so many errors in the last half, they can easily get back into this game. Which I do see happening as they have focused on the road a lot. They have only given up 2.2 goals in the past three road games on average. To go along with that, the Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Chicago as well as 4-1-2 in the last 7 meetings. Take the Under and roll with it.
