Chicago Blackhawks vs. Vegas Golden Knights
NHL: Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 10:00 PM EST
The Blackhawks had won two in a row before taking a loss in their last game. Chicago is in the basement of the Central Division and they have the 3rd fewest points in the Western Conference. Overall, the team has lost seven of their last 10 games and they have lost their last four games facing teams from the Western Conference.
After a four-game winning streak, the Golden Knights have lost their last two games where they only totaled two goals. The team sits in the middle of the Western Conference and have only won two of their last 10 games facing teams from the Central Division. After winning their five games against the Blackhawks this season in Chicago they faced them at home a couple of weeks back in Sin City and lost to them 5-3.
The road team has won four of the last five games between these teams.
Great First PeriodIn their last game, the Blackhawks lost to the Phoenix Coyotes 4-3 in a shootout and they scored all of their goals in the first period. Three different players lit the lamp for Chicago in the loss including Jonathan Toews, who also had two assists. Robin Lehner (6-5-4 2.71 GAA) stopped 44 of 47 shots and he has faced at least 30 shots in three of his last four starts.
Carl Crawford (6-7-2 2.89 GAA) is slated to get the start against Vegas and after losing three in a row with him in goal he only allowed one goal in his last start, which was a 2-1 shootout win over the New Jersey Devils.
Patrick Kane leads the Blackhawks in points, goals, and assists and while he has not scored a goal in his last four games he has an assist in each of his last three games. He is the only player on the team with more than eight goals (14) and Alex DeBrincat has eight goals on the season and has scored a goal in each of his last three games.
Offense is a No ShowIn their last game, the Golden Knights were at home and suffered a bad 5-0 loss to the New York Rangers. Vegas gave up five goals on only 25 shots while they took 38 shots and they allowed two power-play goals. Malcolm Subban (4-5-3 3.04 GAA) took the loss in a less than stellar performance in between the pipes. #1 G Marc-Andre Fleury (11-6-2 2.54 GAA) is scheduled to start in the game facing the Blackhawks and he has not started since November 23rd because of an injury. He was in goal on November 13th facing the Blackhawks where he gave up five goals on only 26 shots in a 5-3 Golden Knights loss.
Three players for Vegas have scored double-digits in goals this season led by Reilly Smith with 12 goals he has one goal and three assists in his last five games. Max Pacioretty has 10 goals on the season and leads the team in points but only has one goal and no assists in his last five games and no points in his last three. On the season the Golden Knights are 7-6-3 at home.

Full-Game Side Bet
The Golden Knights were beaten badly by the Blackhawks in the middle of last month and they will return the favor this time around. It had to sting in their last game getting shutout at home giving up five goals on only 25 shots. Their offense will wake up in this game and light up the Blackhawks while their defense will play well. Chicago had lost seven in a row facing Vegas before the win in their last game facing them. They will be back to their losing ways against the Golden Knights in this contest, as Vegas will easily win and hand the Blackhawks their 2nd straight loss.
Prediction: Golden Knights
Full-Game Total Pick
While a few of the key trends for the Golden Knights point to the Over in this game I am still leaning towards the Over. The main reason is that in the last four games between these teams in Vegas the total has gone Over every time. These teams combined for eight goals in the middle of last month in Vegas and I look for around that many goals to be scored in this game. Crawford will have a tough game between the pipes while Fleury will be solid in his first action in a couple of weeks. The attack for the Golden Knights will come out firing after getting shutout in their last game at home and they will pepper Crawford early and often. The for the 5th straight game between these teams in Vegas the total will go Over.
