This game is going to be a dog fight, as the Dallas Stars play host to the NJ Devils. The NJ Devils enter this game ranked 30th in the NHL with a record of 9-15-5 on the season. The Dallas Stars are currently ranked 12th with a record of 17-11-3 up to this point. The Dallas Stars are searching for more points heading into the new year, as the playoff picture starts to take early form. The NJ Devils are desperate to just make a splash this season, struggling to find any sort of consistent success on the year. NJ will need to start playing with a little more urgency, going just 2-7-1 in their last 10 games. On the other hand, the Stars are riding in on a two-game win streak, winning 6 of their last 10 games. Do not count anyone out, as this game could go either way.
NJ Devils ReviewThe NJ Devils have not found their rhythm away from home, going 5-8 this season on the road. The Devils' defense is ranked 29th in the NHL in goals allowed per game on the road, allowing an average of 4 per game. Mackenzie Blackwood has been struggling over the last month, with the addition of no help from their shot blockers, Blackwood's save percentage has plummeted. Blackwood has shown bursts of great play, so which goalie will show up today is anyone's guess as of late. For NJ's sake, hopefully, it is the Blackwood of September, that could extend play ith miraculous saves and did not let up easy goals.

The Devils not been better on offense, also ranking 29th in the NHL in goals scored per game when away from home ice. Taylor Hall is the leading point scorer for the Devils and will need some help from the supporting skaters to rack up a couple against this Dallas squad.
Dallas Stars ReviewThe Dallas Stars enter this matchup with a home record of 11-4-1 on the year. The Stars have relied on their defense to get them to this point, as the scoring at home ranks just 27th in the NHL with just 2.81 goals scored per game. Dallas will look to Joe Pavelski to spark this offense, as the veteran is still waiting to turn on the turbo boosters and rack up some more points this month.
Dallas has relied heavily on an amazing goalie in Ben Bishop, as the Stars defense at home ranks 1st in the NHL with a mere 1.91 goals allowed on average. Bishop has been fun to watch all year, clearing out soft rebounds and showing that his butterfly has improved since last year. Bishop also looks more comfortable with his stick and is not afraid to set up defensive zone breakouts. Bishop will be the key to a win tonight.
- Stars are 9-1 in their last 10 home games.
- Devils are 17-35 in their last 52 overall.
- Devils are 16-42 in their last 58 road games.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Go with the Dallas Stars on the puck line in tonight's game. The Stars may be weak on offense but their goalie, Ben Bishop, is making an MVP run as Bishop continues to be a brick wall between the pipes. The Stars will be able to do just enough on offense to cover the spread as Bishop prevents Taylor Hall and company from scoring but a goal or two. The NJ Devils are a great team to bet against because they love to lose, and lose spectacularly. While the Devils can get very scrappy and have had some close losses, taking the money line just will not give us good enough odds with how bad NJ is this year. Go with the puck line and live life on the edge, the edge of money that is. Dallas is going to roll here and continue their winning streak at home.
Prediction: Dallas Stars -1.5
Full-Game Total Pick
I would go with the under in this game. The biggest reason is Ben Bishop who is sure to keep the Devils scorers at bay in this one. Bishop is one of the best goalies in the NHL right now and will look to continue that trend here tonight against the Devils. the Devils and the Stars both struggle mightily on offense, ranking in the bottom three in the entire league. PK Subban has been terrible all season for the Devils and is a big reason they cannot find the back of the net this season. Big money was paid to Subban and there has been zero production. On top of this, Mackenzie Blackwood has had some great games. So, we have two good goalies, two terrible offenses, take the under.
Prediction: Under 6
