New York Rangers vs. L.A, Kings
NHL: Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 10:00 PM EST
The Rangers have won three of their last four games and they have flipped between wins and losses for the last several games. They are in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference and on the season they are 7-5-1 on the road. New York is a high scoring team and while they are coming off a shutout win the defense has been the issue giving up an average of 3.10 goals per game.
Things just keep getting worse for the Kings, who have lost four in a row and they are in the basement of the Western Conference. Only one of their losses in their skid was at home and while the team has been bad on the road on the season they are 9-6-1 on home ice. The defense for L.A. has not been good on the season and on the attack, they rank 3rd to last in the NHL in goals per game.
The Kings have won six of their last eight home games against the Rangers.
Great Win in Sin CityThe Rangers are coming off a great road win beating the Vegas Golden Knights 5-0.
“I thought tonight, as that game went on, we got better and better and better and better, and that’s a great sign for us.” - Coach Quinn pic.twitter.com/MCoFJ5GI2D— New York Rangers (@NYRangers) December 9, 2019
The team was outshot 38-25 and still got the shutout win, five different players lit the lamp, and Alexandar Georgiev (8-5-1 2.67 GAA) was great in goal stopping all 38 shots he faced. Veteran Henrik Lundqvist (7-6-2 3.21 GAA) is set to get the start against the Kings and he has given up seven goals in his last two starts, which were both New York losses.
Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers in points, goals, and assists and he is the only player for the team that has more than seven goals with 14. He has two goals and an assist in his last five games and had a goal with an assist in the win over the Golden Knights. Ryan Strome ranks 2nd on the team in points and had two assists in the win over Vegas. New York has won four of their last five road games.
15 minutes Not EnoughIn losing their 4th in a row in their last game the Kings scored a goal with just over five minutes gone in the 3rd period but could not score another goal to send the game to overtime. L.A. scored two goals in the first period but only netted one more the rest of the game. Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty each had a goal and an assist in the losing cause and Jack Campbell (4-6-1 2.99 GAA) gave up four goals on 30 shots. Jonathan Quick (7-12-1 3.23 GAA) is slated to go against the Rangers and the Kings have lost his last three starts even though in his last two he only gave up two goals in each.
Kopitar leads the Kings in points, goals, and assists and he had been in a slump with not points in four games before the Rangers’ game. On the season the Kings are 9-6-1 at home and they have won seven of their last 10 games on home ice.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Kings have lost for in a row and they have had issues on both sides of the ice all season. However, I am taking them in this non-conference game, as I think Quick will have a solid game in between the pipes. He did not play in the last game and will be rested and in his last two starts he gave up two goals in each. On the other side of the coin, Lundqvist has not been in top form in his last two starts and while L.A. has a less than stellar attack they will get him for a few goals in this one. Quick and the defense are the main reasons that the Kings will get the W in this game snapping their four-game skid.
Full-Game Total Pick
The Kings are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the league and they will get the win in this game and it will not be because of their offense. Quick will be solid in goal for his 3rd game in a row and the L.A. defense will keep the Rangers from peppering their netminder. The Rangers scored five goals in their last game in a win on the road but L.A. will treat them so well. The Rangers have an Under record of 8-0 in their last eight games and the total has gone Under in five of the Kings last seven games. This game will be a defensive one and because of that. the Under is THE pick.
