We have a National Hockey League, non-conference matchup to consider on Tuesday evening when the Florida Panthers face-off with the Dallas Stars. I’m the Flash and happy to be previewing this game for you today. Florida is eight points behind Columbus for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference and Dallas is locked into the first wild card in the Western Conference, two points behind sixth seed St Louis and two points ahead of eighth seed Arizona. This is a big one for both sides and it’s time to make “Cash with the Flash” on Tuesday night.
Must Win Game for Florida
Florida has just ten games remaining on their schedule, and they have eight points to somehow make up to catch Columbus for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference. That means Tuesday night is a must-win contest for Florida. The Panthers have won four of their last five, so it isn’t as if they aren’t trying to make up the ground, because they are. If they could have only won half of the 22 games, they lost by one goal they would be in good shape. Now they must win out their schedule and hope for a TON of other things to go their way.
“The guys played hard, the effort was there… at this time of year you need every point. It’s tough but we need to regroup here, get to Dallas and try to go 3-1-0 on this trip.” -Coach Boughner pic.twitter.com/dFsDp9ENJH

The Panthers aren’t reporting any significant injuries for their Tuesday night game with Dallas.
Roberto Luongo is the probable net-keeper for the Panthers on Tuesday night. Luongo has a record of 14-15-4 with 3.16 goals against average and 89 percent save percentage. Luongo has one shutout and a 12 percent success rate on shootouts this season.
Aleksander Barkov leads Florida in scoring with 83 points on 30 goals and 53 assists with a +/- minus eight. Over the last five games, Barkov has one goal and a dozen helpers with a +/- of plus nine.
Over their past five games, Florida has outscored their opponents 22-11 and outshot them 173-124. The power play unit has scored five goals on 17 opportunities for a 29.4 percent success rate and the penalty kill unit allowed three goals on 12 tries for a mediocre 75 percent success rate.
Should Win Game for Dallas
The Stars have been solid this season, and their record of 37-29-6 is strong enough that if the playoffs were to begin today, Dallas would be the first wild card in the Western Conference. With 10 games remaining on their schedule, the Stars must win hockey games otherwise they might get passed as Arizona and Minnesota are two and three points behind Dallas respectively. Much like Florida, had the Stars won seven of the 15 one-goal losses they suffered this season, we would be talking about a side easily in the playoff picture. Tuesday night might not be a “must win” game, but it is a “should win” game for sure.
Are you a glass half full or glass half empty sort of person? The Stars battled back from a 2-0 deficit to get a point, and whether that's a good point or a bad point is up to you. https://t.co/YBBadCBIc6

Dallas has a lengthy injury report for this game, most notably on the list is goaltender Ben Bishop, who is questionable with a lower-body injury. According to Bishop, he is available for Tuesday night.
If Bishop is available, he will likely start in goal for the Stars on Tuesday night. Bishop has a record of 24-14-2 this season with 2.05 goals against average and a 93 percent save percentage. Bishop has recorded six shutouts this season.
Tyler Seguin leads Dallas in scoring with 65 points on 25 goals and 38 helpers with a +/- plus 17 this season. Over the past five games, Seguin has four assists and a +/- plus four.
Over their past five games, Dallas has outscored their opponents 10-7 and outshot them 172-160. The power play unit scored only one goal on nine opportunities for a nine percent success rate and the penalty kill unit was strong, allowing one shorthanded goal on 11 tries for a 90 percent success rate.
- Stars are 5-1 in their last 6 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game.
- Stars are 5-1 in their last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game.
- Under is 3-0-1 in Stars last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game.
- Under is 3-0-1 in Stars last 4 games as an underdog of +151 to +200.
- Under is 4-0 in Stars last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400.
- Under is 10-1 in Stars last 11 Tuesday games.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Minus 150 is where I draw the line and the Stars just made it. Florida has lost too many one-goal games and now trying to play catch-up and I’m not sure that will work against Ben Bishop on Tuesday night. This is going to be another disappointing one-goal loss for the Panthers to swallow and I don’t see it any other way. I will be siding with the Stars on Tuesday night.
Prediction: Dallas -150
Full-Game Total Pick
Bishop has allowed two goals in his last five games and that is hard to beat, especially at home. Florida has a tough enough time scoring goals, and now they have to face the hottest goaltender in the NHL in his own barn. Luongo will allow his usual 3-4 goals, Bishop will probably allow at least one, and we are going with the under on Tuesday night.
Prediction: Under 5.5 Goals
