Is Sandy Alcantara starting to come around this season? After five May starts in which he generated an 8.64 ERA he has been solid across his last two starts going a combined 12 innings while allowing just two earned runs against the Rockies and Pirates.

Sure, those aren’t the best opponents but the Marlins starter today hasn’t allowed a first inning run in nine of 13 starts including his last six.

Philadelphia has been a solid first inning scoring team this season, but when they’re on the road they’ve failed to score in 70% of games compared to not scoring in the first in 56% of home games.

Mick Abel has been every bit as advertised as the prized Phillies prospect has held opponents scoreless in the first inning in all three of his starts and sports a 1.69 road ERA this season.

Miami hasn’t scored in the first inning in 74% of home games with the Phillies holding the Marlins scoreless in the first inning in all three of their head-to-head matchups on the season. Play on a Phillies vs Marlins NRFI to occur today with odds at -120 and first pitch at 6:40PM ET.

NRFI Best Bet Today #2: San Diego Padres vs Los Angeles Dodgers (-115)

We’re going to the last game on the board for our second NRFI play today as NL West rivals Padres and Dodgers go at it in Los Angeles.

Tonight is scheduled to be Shohei Ohtani’s first start pitching since August 23, 2023 and we all remember how great he was on the mound.

In 2023 he was 10-5 with a 3.14 ERA and although he likely won’t go long into this game, we can expect his best stuff out of the gates against a Padres team that has lost three of its last four games.

Dylan Cease starts for San Diego and on the surface he’s having a bad season, but his las start came against this Dodgers team last week where he went seven innings while allowing no runs and striking out 11. Cease hasn’t allowed a run in the first in 10 of 14 total starts this season including his last two.

The Padres as a team have played to a NRFI in eight of their last ten games with two of the first three head-to-head matchups resulting in a NRFI as well. Play on a Padres vs Dodgers NRFI with first pitch at 10:10PM ET and odds listed at -115.
