2025 Travelers Championship Course Preview

The Travelers Championship returns to TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, from  June 19–22. The course features a modest length at about 6,840 yards with a par of 70, but its narrow, tree-lined fairways, small greens, and water hazards make it a demanding test.

Water comes into play on six holes, and missing the fairway often leads to tricky lies in thick rough or  fescue.

Recent tweaks—including tree removal, added length on holes 2 and 3, and a new retaining wall by the pond on the 16th and 17th—were made to slow scoring and reward  thoughtful play.

With winning scores typically in the high teens under par, success hinges on elite iron accuracy, smart approach shots, and short-game resilience.

Expect another week where pristine ball-striking and confident putting are essential for anyone aiming to contend.

2025 Travelers Championship Favorite Holes

Favorite Hole: Hole 15, 296 Yard Par 4

Drivable Par 4 here, but there is water on the left so wayward shots will bring water into play, and run off areas surrounding the green will force a lot of players to utilize their chipping game to get birdie.

The green is big, it has several tiers so shots that don’t make it to the tier where the pin is won’t have a guaranteed 2-putt for birdie.

18th Hole Rating: 4.6 (444 Yards, Par 4)

Not much to this hole as it’s a shorter Par 4 that will yield quite a few pars this week. There are fairway bunkers on the left and right, but most will easily clear the one on the right, and the one on the left isn’t too difficult to get out of.

The green has bunkers short/left and a couple on the right so the easy play is to aim for the left side of the green, and with these guys using a short iron or wedge on their approach, it won’t be too difficult. Decent hole, but it doesn’t provide much drama.

2025 Travelers Championship: Players That Can Trip You Up

Patrick Cantlay

Has strong course history here with back-to-back top 5 finishes, but current form tells a different story. He missed the cut last week and ranks outside the Top 30 in total strokes gained over the last 30 days.

His driving accuracy has been off, and his around-the-green play is trending poorly —two key areas that get exposed on a demanding setup like this. Course history is tempting, but  recent form says stay away.

Rory McIlroy

He might be priced like a top-tier contender, but the form doesn’t match the number. He salvaged a 19th-place finish last week with a strong Sunday, but the first three rounds were shaky and uninspiring.

His interviews paint a picture of a player battling frustration—both with the  media and with his driver—and even admitted his focus has dipped since completing the career grand slam.

At a course that demands full commitment and sharp ball striking, Rory’s current mindset makes him a clear fade despite the name value.

Collin Morikawa

He brings elite ball striking every week, but that won’t be enough on a course that demands birdie-making—and that’s where he falls apart.

His putting was downright painful to watch at  the U.S. Open, and he’s losing -0.46 strokes putting over the last 30 days.

You simply can’t contend here without a putter that can heat up, and Morikawa hasn’t shown that ability lately.  Add in two missed cuts in four starts at this course, and there’s no reason to trust him this week.

Travelers Championship DraftKings Darlings

Austin Eckroat $6100

Eckroat has made the cut in 4 straight tournaments, and he’s finished 27th and 24th here the last 2 years so this price is way too good to pass up. This is a no cut event, so he’ll get 4 rounds on a course he’s played well at.

Thomas Detry $6800

He’s made the cut in 5 out of the last 6 tournaments, and his numbers are plus strokes gained in all the main categories. He has a better total strokes gained number in the last month than Patrick Cantlay, Shane Lowry, and Jason Day so this number feels great.

Ryan Fox $7000

In his last 5 tournaments, he has 2 wins, a 28th, a 29th and a 19th last week at The US Open so  we can’t ignore his recent form. The last month, he’s 7th in the field in total strokes gained so  this price is great.

Rest Of Lineup: Austin Eckroat $6100, Thomas Detry $6800, Ryan Fox $7000, Tony Finau  $7700, Sam Burns $9100, Scottie Scheffler $13300
