We’re set for a pitcher’s duel in the Motor City today as the Mariners and Tigers go at it for the start of a three-game series.

Luis Castillo takes the mound for the Mariners not allowing a first inning run in 17 of his 18 starts this season including ten straight.

He’s been worse on the road than at home this season but in his last road start he did go six innings while allowing just one earned run at Texas.

Current Tigers batters collectively have just a .314 slugging percentage against him with the Tigers failing to score in the first in six straight games.

They’ll send ace Tarik Skubal to the mound who has been near flawless as of late not allowing an earned run in his last two starts (14 IP) while striking out a combined 23 batters across those contests.

The NRFI odds for this game are heavily juiced and rightfully so, but we’re willing to lay the -160 odds for a NRFI to occur in Mariners vs Tigers with first pitch at 7:10PM ET.

NRFI Best Bet Today #2: Pittsburgh Pirates vs Minnesota Twins (-185)

Paul Skenes takes the mound today and you know we have to play on a NRFI if it’s his turn to start in the rotation.

He hasn’t allowed a run in the first inning in all 19 of his starts and sports a 1.65 ERA in his road starts this season.

For the most part, no Twins batters have ever faced Skenes so they’re not accustomed yet with Minnesota sitting bottom ten in team batting average against right handed pitching.

Joe Ryan starts for Minnesota going against a Pirates team that hasn’t scored in the first inning in eight straight games and he’s held opponents scoreless in the first inning in 14 of 17 starts this season including ten straight.

The Pirates have lost six straight with their offense scoring just 1.5 runs per game during that stretch as their offense continues to show why they’re one of, if not the worst in the MLB.
