The top two teams in the NL Central start up a three-game series tonight in Milwaukee as the Brewers welcome in the Cubs.
Chicago sends lefty Matthew Boyd to the mound who hasn’t allowed a first inning run in 15 of his 20 starts this season including five straight.
The Brewers have now failed to score a first inning run in 14 straight games and while playing at home have failed to score in the first in almost 89% of those games which is worst in the MLB.
They’ll send out rookie Jacob Misiorowski who hasn’t allowed a first inning run in five of his six starts this season.
He sports a 2.45 ERA on the season but at home his ERA is just 0.56 while allowing opposing hitters to bat just .115.
The Cubs have yet to face Misiorowski on the season so they’ll have to get used to the rookie while ranking top ten in the MLB in most strikeouts in the first inning this season. Play on a Cubs vs Brewers NRFI to occur tonight with odds listed at -155 and first pitch set for 7:40PM ET.
NRFI Best Bet Today #2: Seattle Mariners vs Athletics (+110)
We’re heading all the way down to the last game on the board for our second NRFI play as the Mariners play in Sacramento tonight taking on the Athletics.
Luis Castillo starts for Seattle not allowing a first inning run in 20 of 21 starts this season including 13 straight.
Opposing Athletics hitters have collectively hit just .200 against Castillo all-time with the Mariners starter sporting a 2.28 ERA through four July starts.
Lefty JP Sears gets the nod for the Athletics while also not allowing a first inning run in 20 of 21 starts on the season.
The Mariners have struck out the third most times against lefties this season with opposing Seattle batters hitting just .165 collectively against Sears all-time.
