Manchester United vs Burnley | August 30 | 10:00 AM ET

Manchester United -280 | Burnley +735 | Draw +425

Manchester United are not only winless on the season so far, they also came off a humiliating defeat on Wednesday night to Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup, a team that plies their trade three divisions beneath them.

Two goals in just eight minutes inside the first-half really put United on the back foot in that game, and their penalty shootout loss late on signalled Ruben Amorim still has a lot of work left to do at the club.

Burnley, meanwhile, come into this one off back-to-back wins, first dispatching fellow promotion side Sunderland 2-0 last weekend, and then beating Derby County 2-1 in the EFL Cup in midweek also.

That said, bar Manchester United’s huge mis-hap on Wednesday, the Red Devils have faced the greater competition overall, and that humiliation in midweek may well have lit a fire under United here to bank their first win of the season against one of the league’s weakest sides.

United are unbeaten in 23 straight league games against newly-promoted sides, with Burnley winning just one of their last eleven Premier League road trips also.

Take Manchester United to get the monkey off their back early on Saturday against nearby rivals Burnley.

Premier League Predictions: 1H Manchester United ML (-118)

Leeds vs Newcastle | August 30 | 12:30 PM ET

Leeds +245 | Newcastle +110 | Draw +255

The uncertainty surrounding top striker Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle remains ongoing, and that distraction has definitely put a dent into Newcastle’s hopes for the start of the season.

Generating just one point from their opening two games hasn’t exactly been ideal for the Magpies, yet they were unlucky to fall short in Monday’s 3-2 loss to Isak’s preferred destination Liverpool.

Newcastle looked like they’d done enough to lock in a point against the Premier League champions, but it wasn’t to be, as just like last season, Liverpool showed why they’re such a dangerous team late on in games, netting the winner ten minutes deep into injury time.

Leeds, meanwhile, got hammered 5-0 by Arsenal last weekend, yet unlike Newcastle, they do at least have one win under their belt this season, beating Everton 1-0 in the opening game.

Newcastle have been heavily undervalued this season, however, owning the #1 xPTS tally in the league heading into matchday 3 despite their slow start, so we’ll potentially be looking at situations to back them in the very near future.

That said, we don’t believe this is one such spot to do so as the Leeds camp seem in much better spirits currently, with Leeds allowing far fewer opportunities to opponents inside their own 18-yard box this season than Newcastle also.

Take the home team to cover the first-half line on Saturday.

Premier League Predictions: 1H Leeds +0.25 (-135)

Liverpool vs Arsenal | August 31 | 11:30 AM ET

Liverpool +120 | Arsenal +225 | Draw +250

The biggest game of the season kicks off on Sunday as champions Liverpool host runners-up Arsenal at Anfield.

Both teams sit on maximum points heading into week three, but it’s fair to say that Arsenal have looked the slightly sharper of the two teams so far, dispatching Manchester United 1-0 in a tight game back in week one, and blowing out newly-promoted Leeds 5-0 at home last week also.

By comparison, Liverpool have looked a little more vulnerable, especially defensively, giving up multiple goals across both of their opening two starts, and sitting 4th-from-bottom in defensive xGA this season as a result.

The make-or-break for both teams last season really was in their first-half and second-half form, with Arsenal ranking as the best team in the league inside the opening 45 minutes, while Liverpool proved their dominance in the second-half of games [1.92 PPG > 1.74 PPG to Arsenal in the 1H, compared with 2.13 PPG > 1.61 PPG to Liverpool in the 2H].

This gulf in form, both before and after the break, has largely carried over into this season as well, and getting a head start on the Gunners in this one to cover in the first-half on Sunday looks like the value play.

As a further note, Arsenal have also covered this line in three of their last four competitive visits to Anfield also.

Take the Gunners to cover inside the first-half on Sunday.

Premier League Prediction: 1H Arsenal +0.25 (-130)
