MLB Player Props Today for Tuesday: Colson Montgomery, White Sox OVER 1.5 (-120)

Colson Montgomery has covered this HRR line in each of his last two games, 6 of his last 8 games and 53% of his games on the season since being called up from Triple-A Charlotte.

That run includes last night’s game in Minnesota where Montgomery went 2-5 with a solo-blast. Montgomery has found his power stroke with a home run in each of his last two games and 6 of his last 8 games.

Now Montgomery gets his first look at Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson who has hammered in his first start since late July where he allowed 5 earned runs on 5 hits across only 3.2 innings pitched in Toronto against the Blue Jays.

Woods Richardson won’t pitch very deep into this contest, and he’ll be backed by a bullpen that ranks 21st in ERA (4.45) and 29th in WHIP (1.50) since August 1st.

Montgomery has been a Twins-killer in general with a home run and 4+ HRR in all four of his head-to-head matchups against Minnesota.

The 23-year-old shortstop has also posted mazing power numbers against right-handed pitching with 13 home runs across 122 at-bats resulting in a .355 ISO and .615 slugging percentage. Monty will be guaranteed a full 9 innings of at-bats out of the 5-hole against some suspect pitching.

MLB Player Props Today for Tuesday: Heliot Ramos, Giants OVER 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-110)

Heliot Ramos has managed to eclipse this 2.5 HRR line in 4 of his last 7 games while logging 11 hits in the process.

Now Ramos gets another opportunity to feast on Kyle Freeland who he’s gone 4-12 (.333) against with a home run, a triple and a double.

Freeland has been awful this season with a 5.28 ERA & 1.51 WHIP across 131.1 innings of work and he’s been worse at home where he’s posted a 6.36 ERA.

Right-handed batters have posted a .306/.353/.501 slash line against Freeland and 19 of his 20 home runs allowed have come against righties.

Fastballs and breaking pitches have accounted for 91.9% of Freeland’s pitches and Ramos has posted an 8%- and 11%-barrel rate against those two pitches respectively.

Freeland will also be backed by a historically bad bullpen that ranks 29th in ERA (5.55) and 28th in WHIP (1.49) since August 1st.

I generally only recommend an over 2.5 HRR line at plus money but this feels like a fair price for a leadoff hitter against vulnerable pitching at Coors Field.
