Thursday College Football Week 10 Predictions: Marshall vs Coastal Carolina & Tulane vs UTSA
Marshall vs Coastal Carolina: High Scoring Potential in Conway
Kickoff: 7:30PM ET on ESPN2
The first Thursday matchup features Marshall (5.5-point road favorite) traveling to Conway, South Carolina, to face Coastal Carolina, with the total set at 55.
Weather conditions look ideal — temperatures in the mid-50s, light winds, and no chance of rain — which should help both offenses maintain rhythm and pace throughout the game.
Marshall enters having gone 3–1 in its last four games, finding a strong offensive spark over the past month. In each of those four contests, the Thundering Herd scored at least 40 points, resulting in all four games flying over the total.
The scoring output has been explosive, with those games averaging a combined 81 total points between Marshall and its opponents.
While the offense has come alive, Marshall’s defense has struggled during that same stretch, allowing 35.7 points and 457.8 yards per game.
The Herd have needed every bit of their offensive efficiency to maintain their winning form. Their road games have been particularly productive for total bettors — Marshall has gone 3–0 to the over away from home, averaging 75.7 total points per contest.
Coastal Carolina is also trending upward after a 45–37 victory over Appalachian State, easily surpassing its total of 43.5. The Chanticleers’ offense produced 413 total yards in that win, continuing a string of strong performances under their dual-quarterback approach.
Since 2023, Coastal has gone 11–4 to the over when the game total lands between 49.5 and 56 points. At home, that record improves to 6–2 to the over, reinforcing their reputation as a team that performs well offensively on familiar turf.
Marshall vs Coastal Carolina Predictions: Over 55.5
With both teams showing explosive scoring potential, Marshall’s recent defensive issues, and favorable weather conditions, all signs point to another high-tempo contest.
Expect plenty of points when the Thundering Herd and Chanticleers meet under the Thursday night lights in Conway.
Tulane vs UTSA: Green Wave Rolling Toward AAC Supremacy
Kickoff: 7:30PM ET on ESPN
The second Thursday matchup features Tulane (6–1 overall) visiting UTSA, with the Green Wave listed as 5.5-point favorites. Both teams kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, setting up an exciting back-to-back viewing slate for college football fans and bettors.
Tulane’s only loss of the season came against nationally ranked Mississippi, a setback that hasn’t derailed their campaign.
The Green Wave remain 3–0 in conference play, maintaining control of their destiny in the American Athletic Conference.
Their combination of experience, balance, and resilience has them firmly in contention for both a conference title and a potential Group of Five New Year’s bowl bid.
Tulane’s resume stands out with quality wins over Duke and Northwestern, and their ability to rally late was on full display last week against Army.
Trailing 17–10 with just over two minutes remaining, Tulane scored a game-tying touchdown, forced a punt, and struck again in the final minute to escape with a 24–17 victory. That comeback could serve as a major momentum boost heading into Thursday night.
Over their last three games, Tulane’s offense has been highly consistent, producing 438, 458, and 402 yards respectively.
Just as impressive, the defense has held all three AAC opponents to 19 points or fewer, demonstrating complete control on both sides of the ball.
UTSA, on the other hand, is coming off a difficult outing — a 55–17 loss at North Texas as a four-point underdog. The Roadrunners allowed 584 yards of total offense and finished –3 in turnover differential, issues that could prove costly again against an opportunistic Tulane squad.
Tulane vs UTSA Predictions: Tulane -5.5
With Tulane’s strong defensive play, offensive consistency, and clear sense of urgency to stay in the New Year’s Six conversation, the Green Wave appear well-positioned to sustain their run in AAC play.
