NRFI Best Bet Today #1: San Francisco Giants vs Pittsburgh Pirates (-150)

We’re going to one of the first games on the board tonight for a NRFI play as the Giants and Pirates go at it in Pittsburgh.

Logan Webb gets the start for San Francisco not allowing a first inning run in 17 of his 23 starts on the season including his last which was against this same Pirates team going 5.1 innings while allowing just one run in total and striking out 11.

It’s also worth noting that current Pirates sport just a .238 slugging percentage against Webb all time. Pittsburgh will send out Mike Burrows for the start not allowing a first inning run in nine of his 12 starts this season including six straight.

The Giants post a bottom ten batting average among all teams over the past week and like Webb, Burrows last start came against the same team as tonight going six innings while allowing just one earned run.

Burrows has a 3.38 home ERA compared to a 4.63 road ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .146 batting average in the last 15 days. Play on a Giants vs Pirates NRFI to occur today with first pitch slated for 6:40PM ET and odds listed at -150. 

NRFI Best Bet Today #2: Kansas City Royals vs Boston Red Sox (-130)

The Royals head into Tuesday’s matchup at Boston as the best NRFI team in the MLB. They’ll send righty Ryan Bergert to the mound who is a perfect 7-0 in not allowing a first inning run this season.

This will be Bergert’s first start as a member of the Royals, but with San Diego he posted a 1.96 road ERA while allowing just a .165 opponent batting average.

Sure, the Red Sox scored five first inning runs last night, but the first three games these two played this regular season went to a NRFI.

Ace Garrett Crochet starts for the Red Sox not allowing a first inning run in 17 of 22 starts this season with the Royals not scoring in the first inning in five straight games.

Crochet sports a 2.42 home ERA while allowing current Royals batters to collectively hit .176 all-time against him.

He posted a 1.73 ERA in four July starts with two of those coming against the Cubs and Dodgers. Let’s play on a Royals vs Red Sox NRFI tonight with odds listed at -140 and first pitch at 7:10PM ET.
