We have a lefty vs lefty matchup tonight in the Pirates vs Royals matchup in Kansas City as Bailey Falter takes the mound for Pittsburgh.

He has held opponents scoreless in 12 of 18 starts on the season with the Royals heading in as the best NRFI team in the MLB heading into today’s action.

The Royals are bottom ten in first inning scoring at home failing to do so in 74% of their games at Kauffman Stadium and sit bottom five in team batting average against lefties this season.

Kris Bubic starts for the Royals not allowing a first inning run in 14 of his 17 starts this season with the Pirates failing to score in the first inning in seven straight games and in 78% of their road games which is bottom five in the MLB.

NRFI Best Bet Today #2: Cleveland Guardians vs Houston Astros (-115)

The Guardians and Astros head into Wednesday’s action as the two worst overall first inning scorers in the MLB so we’ll look at a NRFI to occur in the third and final game of their series in Houston today.

Slade Cecconi starts for Cleveland having not allowed a first inning run in seven of nine total starts this season and sports a 2.57 road ERA compared to a 4.95 ERA at home.

He has been great as of late as well sporting a 2.60 ERA overall across his last month of action. Lefty Brandon Walter starts for the Astros having not allowed a first inning run in five of his six starts this season.

Cleveland sits bottom five in both batting average and slugging percentage against lefties this season with Walter pitching much better at home than on the road this season with a 1.42 ERA at Daikin Park and 5.73 ERA in road starts.
