MLB Player Props Today for Monday: Joey Ortiz, Brewers OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+100)

Joey Ortiz has covered this HRR line in 6 of his last 9 games while recording a hit in 8 of his last 10 games and 2+ total bases in 7 of his last 10 games.

Ortiz also has an interesting history against Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Andrew Heaney who he’s gone 3/5 against with three home runs.

Heaney has really struggled on the road where he’s allowed 3+ earned tuns in 6 straight starts while posting a 6.55 ERA, .276 OBA and .571 slugging percentage on the season. He’s also allowed 14 of his 21 home runs on the road this season.

Heaney already pitched in Milwaukee in late June where and he allowed 7 earned runs on 7 hits across only 4 IP and current Brewers are hitting .344 against him with 5 home runs across 61 at-bats.

The Pittsburgh pen wasn’t good to begin with, and they were sellers at the deadline while parting ways with closer David Bednar.

Ortiz is projected to bat 9th in Brewers lineup but that does set him up for run scoring opportunities while being backed by the top of the order. It might not even matter if Ortiz can take advantage of Heaney’s 10.4%-barrel rate again.

MLB Player Props Today for Monday: Brent Rooker, Athletics OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-140)

Brent Rooker has covered this HRR line in 12 of his last 17 games while batting close to .300 in the process.

Rooker has also thrived at home where he’s cleared this line in 60% of his games on the season while averaging 2.9 HRR in his last 10 games.

Now Rooker has the opportunity to feast on Ryan Pepiot who he’s gone 3-8 against with a home run and two RBI.

Pepiot has been very serviceable, but he’s scuffled a bit in his last two outings where he’s allowed a combined 9 earned runs on 11 hits (3HR) and five free passes across 9.2 innings pitched.

He’s a right-handed pitcher with reverse splits as right-handed sluggers are hitting .258 against him with 15 home runs across 279 at-bats.

Rooker has a barrel rate of 12.2% or better against all three of Pepiot’s pitches and he’s already displayed power against him with a solo bomb in the 1st inning of a game in early July.
