MLB Player Props Today for Thursday: Ryan O’Hearn, Padres OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+105)
Ryan O’Hearn seems to be getting comfortable in San Diego as he’s covered this HRR line in four straight games including each of the first three games of this series against the San Francisco Giants where he’s gone a combined 5-9 with two home runs and five RBI.
O’Hearn has thrived against Giants starting pitcher Justin Verlander who he’s gone a perfect 3-3 against with a double and two RBI.
Verlander is coming off 7 scoreless innings of work against a weak lineup in the Tampa Bay Rays, but he has been inconsistent as he allowed 5 earned runs across only 5 innings against the Washington Nationals in the prior outing. Left-handed bats are also hitting .281 with a .798 OPS against the 42-year-old veteran.
The San Francisco bullpen is a bit taxed and it’s definitely watered-down after trading Camilo Doval and Tyler Rogers at the deadline. O’hearn seems to have found his stroke, and we get a great price in a friendly matchup.
MLB Player Props Today for Thursday: Josh Lowe, Rays UNDER 1.5 (-140)
Josh Lowe has fallen short of this HRR line in each of his last two games, 8 of his last 14 games and 53% of his games on the season.
Lowe hasn’t fared as well at home where he’s fallen short of this HRR line in 6 of his last 8 games and 65% of his games on the season.
It’s only a small sample size, but Lowe has only gone 1-5 against St Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Sonny Gray.
Gray hasn’t been great on the road, but this is a pitcher friendly park, and he’s held left-handed bats to a .241 batting average and .647 OPS on the season.
Lowe hit only .186 in July, and he’s followed that up with a putrid .163 batting average and a .467 OPS across 49 August at-bats.
This Rays lineup has been struggling at the dish as we just watched Yankee rookie Cam Schlittler spin 6 perfect innings before they got on the board last night. This is spot to fade an ice-cold hitter against a starting pitcher that has thrived against left-handed bats.
