NFL Thanksgiving Player Prop Pick #1: Christian Watson, Green Bay Packers OVER 48.5 Receiving Yards (-114)

Christian Watson has been a go-to guy for Jordan Love & the Green Bay packers as he’s covered this line in 3/5 games while landing on 46 & 45 receiving yards in the two games where he fell short since returning from an ACL injury.

Last week, Watson led the team in routes run and read share (33%). Watson thrives against man and single high safety coverages, and the Detroit Lions run those defenses at the highest and 3rd highest rates respectively.

The Lions secondary is also banged up as safety Kerby Joseph, and cornerback Terrion Arnold are both listed as questionable after missing practice on a short week.

The Packers offense could also be short-handed as Josh Jacobs, Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks are all listed as questionable.

Green Bay should be forced into throwing the ball as -2.5-point underdogs against a Detroit run defense that ranks 9th in DVOA.

Watson is a speedy receiver that can take advantage of the fast track in Detroit as he’s logged 114 and 94 receiving yards in his last two roads games against the Lions.

NFL Thanksgiving Player Prop Pick #2: Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs OVER 20.5 Rushing Yards (-114)

Patrick Mahomes has crushed this line with 28+ rushing yards in 7/11 games this season (64%) while averaging 28.9 yards per game.

That includes last week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts where he ran the ball four times for 30 yards.

The Dallas Cowboys defense has struggled to stop the passing game at home, but they have also allowed the 3rd most rushing yards to opposing quarterbacks with 24.6 per game.

The Cowboys offense should find success against the Chiefs with Dak Prescott airing it out and that’s reflected in the total being driven up to 52.5.

Kansas City leads the NFL in passing rate and that leads to opportunities for Mahomes to collect rushing yards on scrambles.

Kareem Hunt is a 30-year-old running back that is coming off a 30-carry effort after not logging more than 13 carries all season so you can’t expect for him to be very fresh on a short week.

These are the types of critical games where Mahomes is much more likely to play hero ball, and I fully expect a big game on ground on Thanksgiving.
