Wolves vs Brentford | December 20 | 10:00 AM ET
Wolves +260 | Brentford +105 | Draw +250
Pressure continues to mount on the Wolves board after last weekend’s loss against Arsenal, as another loss in this one would make Wolves only the fourth side in Premier League history to register ten straight defeats in a single Premier League campaign.
That looming negative aside, the Old Gold can certainly go into this one with a renewed sense of pride, as they gave league-leaders Arsenal all they could handle down in London last weekend, scoring all three goals in that game against the Gunners, unfortunately two of which went inside their own net.
However, Wolves won’t get a better chance to finally register a league win this season than welcoming in Brentford this weekend, a team currently mired in some of the worst form in the league right now.
The Bees have lost five straight games away from home heading into this one, scoring just one solitary goal in the process across those five matchups as well, with Brentford being the only team in the league to score zero goals from either counter-attacking or set-piece situations away from home this season.
Wolves have a chance to finally claim all three points in this one, and if they can perform anything like they did last week against Arsenal, than they’ll likely do just that.
Premier League Predictions: Wolves +0.5 (-126)
Brighton vs Sunderland | December 20 | 10:00 AM ET
Brighton -150 | Sunderland +420 | Draw +295
Sunderland will likely still be on a high after securing north-east bragging rights last weekend with a 1-0 home win against local rivals Newcastle.
In what is one of the most entertaining derby games in the country, and one we’ve seen all too little of across recent seasons also, Newcastle’s own goal just after the break meant Sunderland not only secured the heated derby win in that one, but also became the best promoted side in almost 20 years in the Premier League.
However, despite their stellar recent form, the African Cup of Nations call ups have not been kind to this already thin Black Cats roster, with the next month and a half likely proving to be a very tough time for a Sunderland side missing six key players due to the international tournament.
Brighton, on the other side, haven’t had anywhere near as much to shout about recently, going winless in three straight games in the Premier League.
That said, take away Brighton’s recent poor home performance against West Ham, and close shootout loss to the Villains, and their home record beyond those games has been stellar, not having lost a game at home going all the way back to early-April (again to Aston Villa).
With Sunderland’s heavy absences, combined with their come down off an emotional win against Newcastle last week, this could present the perfect opportunity for the Seagulls to get back to winning ways this weekend, and we’re backing them to do just that.
Premier League Predictions: Brighton ML (-150)
Aston Villa vs Manchester United | December 21 | 11:30 AM ET
Aston Villa +110 | Manchester United +240 | Draw +265
After scoring four goals across each of their last two matchups in the Premier League, including Monday night’s pulsating 4-4 draw against Bournemouth at home, it’s a little surprising to see a game involving Manchester United with a line on the total currently sitting at Under 3 goals, a mistake we expect will be rectified by kick-off on Sunday.
It hasn’t just been United involved in high-scoring affairs of late either, with Villa netting an average of 2.75 GPG across their last four starts also.
The Villains are in top-form right now, reeling off nine straight victories on the bounce, including against league-leaders Arsenal, with only the two Manchester teams of United and City averaging more total goals than them across that recent ten-game run also.
Manchester United have been hit hard by the recent AFCON call-ups however, losing top striker Bryan Mbeumo to international duty, as well as Diallo and Mazraoui also.
On top of that, United have numerous other injuries to contend with as well, right across the park, and containing a rampant Aston Villa side in this one could prove to be a tall order, a side that have only been denied once across their last ten Premier League matchups.
Despite Mbeumo’s absence in this one, United still have enough firepower to cause Villa problems this weekend, and with United’s defense stretched thin at the other end, we expect goals at both ends on Sunday.
Premier League Prediction: Over 2.75 (-124)
