Expert WNBA Props for Thursday: Azura Stevens, Sparks OVER 7.5 Rebounds (-120)

Azura Stevens has covered this line in 10/19 games (53%) this season, but she’s been much better at home where she’s covered this line in 5/8 games (63%).

Stevens has fallen short of this line in 4 of her last 5 games but she drew some tough matchups against Indiana (#2 Opp Reb) and two matchups against Chicago (#6 Opp Reb).

Now Stevens gets an easier matchup against a Minnesota Lynx team that has allowed the 2nd most rebounds to opposing forwards on the season and most during their last five games.

The Lynx will also be dealing with tired legs on the play the 2nd leg of a back-to-back with travel after logging big minutes against the Phoenix Mercury.

Stevens has only cleared this number in 1/3 games against Minnesota this season (9, 6 & 6) but one under was her 2nd game of the season and the other was a game where she was pulled after only 18 minutes.

Since then, Stevens has played 24+ minutes in 7 straight games with 29+ minutes in four of those games.

Over the last five games, Stevens has dominated the defensive glass with a 34.8% rebounding percentage compared to her teammate Dearica Hamby who has posted a 10.8% defensive rebounding percentage.

Look for some additional missed shots out of Minnesota tonight as they play in a tough back-to-back situation.

Expert WNBA Props for Thursday: Shakira Austin, Mystics OVER 14.5 Points (-105)

Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Shakira Austin has covered this line in 5/8 games while averaging 17.6 points per game.

Over the last 8 games, Austin has dominated her team’s usage with a 28% rate and that’s 5+% more than her teammate Brittney Sykes who recently returned from a high ankle sprain.

A’ja Wilson is questionable to play tonight after needing an MRI to assess her wrist injury and if she misses the contest the Las Vegas Aces frontcourt takes a massive hit.

Regardless, the Aces already rank 3rd worst at defending post-up shots and that’s where Austin scores the majority of her points. Austin landed on 13 points against the Aces a few weeks back on a 5-13 shooting effort.

However, I like her chances tonight as I expect Wilson to sit after a short turnaround with a loss against the New York Liberty on Tuesday. Look for Austin to demand for the ball down low where she can expose this defenses weakness.
