Free Picks For Gulfstream Park - 6/14/20

Race 6- Allowance Optional Claimer (Purse - $47,000)

This one mile $16,000 optional claiming race is slated to have seven male runners. I believe that the #3 Grainger Country will start his career 2-for-2 after breaking his maiden in impressive fashion, turning a half-length deficit down the stretch into a one and one-half length victory in his debut (Maiden Special Weight) on May 7. While Grainger Country is extending out to a mile, from six furlongs, I believe that if he gets out in front early the 3-year-old colt has enough speed to compensate for the increased distance. Emisael Jaramillo gets the ride for trainer Ralph Nicks, whose horses have a 16% winning rate as well as a WPS percentage of 45%.#2 No Getting Over Me should be primed and ready to offer more after finishing an even third behind #5 Roman Empire going eight and one-half furlongs in his first start at Gulfstream (May 22), which was one and one-sixteenth miles in length. No Getting Over Me, who has placed in the top 3 in two stakes events, has failed to reach the podium just once in five runs. #7 Gray Beau finished behind both Getting Over Me and Roman Empire in his last outing as the 10-year-old gelding got out of the gate slowly. However, Gray Beau -- who finished ahead of Roman Empire in the previous start -- has finished in the money in four of his past five races at this level. He is also at his best at this distance. #5 Roman Empire also should be in the mix for the entire way. Roman Empire has improved in each of his last two races Roman Empire has finished in the money in 66.7% of his dirt races and is going a mile for the fourth time ever -- finishing in the money twice.

Picks: I like a show bet on the #3. I also like an exacta box of #2,#3, #7, #5.

Race 9 - Allowance Optional Claiming (Purse -$47,000)

This $25,000 filly and mare optional claiming race that is slated to go six furlongs should be a doozy as there are three top contenders. I will go with #6 Flora Fantasy to win for the fifth straight time though she is stepping up the competition as three of those victories came agains5 $16,000 optional claimer and the other came against $20,000 optional claimers. Six furlongs is Flora Fantasy’s best distance. The 6-year-old mare has won a field-high six contests at this distance and has 10 wins on the dirt, which is also the most in the field. #3 Sweetly Maid is cutting back to a sprint distance on the main track after prompting the pace and fading when facing allowance competition going a mile on the Tampa turf. Sweetly Maid, who is making her debut at Gulfstream, has finished in the money in 75% (12-15) of her races on the dirt for her. Career. #8 Fillupcohensapiker is the other horse that I believe can win this event. The 6-year-old mare is making her debut at Gulfstream and has been off since finishing fourth versus $35,000 optional claimers at Parx on March 9. But Fillupcohensapiker had been very consistent over her last five races prior to the break and has finished in the money in 1 of 2 races coming off a break of longer than three months. #5 Assail should also be seriously considered as she is one of the quickest horses in the field. Assail, who is on a two-race win streak, is making a pretty class jump and is coming off a three-month layoff. The 8-year-old mare has won all three of her previous outings after such a long break.

Picks: I like an exacta/trifecta box of #6, #3, #5, #8. Also, depending on the odds, a show bet on #3, #8, #5 could bring a lot of value.

Race 10 - $6,250 Claiming (Purse - 19,500)

10 geldings are set to go six-and-one-half furlongs in this meet. #7 French Quarter appears to be the class of the race. The 9-year-old, who is now racing out of Fausto Guiterez’s barn, turns back to six-and-a-half furlongs, after drawing clear to defeat $6,250 claimers going a mile on a wet track. Santiago Guiterez once again gets the ride on the hot French Quarter who has won four of his last six outings. #6 Northern also has had quite a bit of success in 2020, grabbing victories in three of five races against this level of competition at Tampa in 2020. Northern has finished in the money in 10 of 17 starts at Gulfstream which includes seven victories. #5 Millionaire Runner has shown improvement in each of his last two starts and is coming off a third-place finish at one and one-sixteenth miles against this level. Millionaire Runner has seven top 3 finishes in nine outings this year.

Picks: I am going with an exacta box of $7, #6. I also like a value show bet on the #5. Additionally, I will go with a win bet on the #7.
