Free Picks For Gulfstream Park - 6/20/20

Race 8 - Allowance Optional Claiming $75,000 (Purse -$47,000)

This seven-furlong, seven filly field has a lot of appeal as I believe there are five pretty strong horses although there appears to be a considerable separation between the top 2 -- #7 Sweet Mia and #1 Run Devil -- and the rest of the lineup. I am going with Sweet Mia making her regular once a month start. The daughter of the Big Beast is stretching out to seven furlongs after making a middle move and settling for 3rd behind classy Boerne in an allowance sprint contested at 6 ½ furlongs last month. Edgar Zayas, who has won a race in each of the last five meets at Gulfstream and seven overall, will look to keep Sweet Mia’s WPS percentage at 100% and improve her win percentage to 50%. She has one victory at this distance and has a second as well as a third-place finish in her two previous starts at this level. Run Devil gets the inside post and possesses the most speed of most early speed of all the competitors so she should be able to control the pace. Run Devil finished second in her first non-maiden race going a mile against $16,000 claimers on April 30. This will be the Florida’s horse third race following a long layoff and she has finished either first or second in each of her last two outings.#5 Money Never Sleeps has been racing well this year, registering ESpeeds of 80 and over in each of her three outings. The Kentucky-bred horse has sandwiched a victory against $50,000 starter optional claimers between two third-place finishes at this level. Money Never Sleeps joins Sweet Mia and #4 Don’t Get Khozy as runners with wins at this distance. Speaking of Don’t Get Khozy and, while she is taking a pretty big step up in competition, the much-raced Florida -bred horse has shown improvement in each of her last four outings and should be considered to fill out exotic bets.

Picks: I like an exacta box of #7,#1. I also like a trifecta box of #7, #1, #4, #5.

Race 9 - Allowance Optional Claiming $75,000 (Purse -$47,000)

Eight colts and geldings will go one mile on the turf in what should be an exciting race. I will take #5 Mystic Lancelot to cross the wire first. Mystic Lancelot has been racing exceptionally well recently and is making his first start under Happy Alter following the claim. The 3-year-old colt turns back to a mile after finishing second going one and one-eighth miles on the grass at this level back on May 30. Emisael Jaramillo, who has two victories in his last seven starts, will attempt to extend Mystic Lancelot’s three-race streak of finishing in the top 3. I expect #8 Justinthenickotime, along with Mystic Lancelot, to try to control the pace out of the gate. Justinthenickotime is looking for improvement in his second start under trainer Mike Maker after finishing fifth in the $75,000 English Channel. Paco Lopez will look to get the 3-year-old gelding, who has finished in the money in five of his last six outings, back on track. #6 Riggins is coming off a maiden claiming victory over a mile on the turf the last time out. The 3-year-old gelding is making his debut for trainer Elizabeth Dobles, who owns a 31% win rate with new claims. #4 Mecha Corta returns to Gulfstream -- the site of his lone victory -- after finishing fifth at Tampa Bay going one and one-sixteenth miles against similar foes as he made no impact after fanning out five wide into the lane.

Picks: I like an exacta box of #5, #8. Also, I like a win bet on the #5. Additionally, I will go with an exacta box of #8, #5, #6, #4.

Race 10 - Allowance Optional Claiming $16,000 (Purse- $47,000)

Nine male horses 3-years-old and upwards will go six furlongs. I believe this is essentially a three horse race. #3 Silverly Enough, who does not have a price tag, is dropping way down in class and returning to Gulfstream following his second consecutive victory after defeating $75,000 optional claimers with a late-closing move..The 3-year-old gelding has six top 3 finishes in seven outings which includes three wins -- all at this distance (75%). #1 Vinnie Van Go is dropping down in class after fifth on a sloppy but sealed track the last time out against $25,000 optional claimers in a five furlong race. The 4-year-old gelding has three victories at this distance along with a 30% win percentage on the dirt as well as a 60% WPS percentage. #2 Star Juancho is making his debut for Jorge Delgado after getting claimed following a second place finish in a $6,250 claiming event which came following almost a three-month layoff. The 5-year-old horse has finished in the money in 71.4% of his career races.

Picks: I like a win bet on the #3. I also like a exacta box bet of #3, #1, #2. Additionally, I like a value bet on #2.
