Free Picks For Gulfstream Park - 8/27/20

Race 2 - Maiden Special Weight - (Purse- $55,000)

Six 2-year-old male runners, which includes four first-timers, will go five furlongs on the dirt. I’m going with #5 Lost A Legend in his debut as he has had several good workouts for trainer Ralph Nicks. Plus, he will have Emisael Jaramillo, who has won 26% of his races with 2-year-old males, in the saddle. I most certainly could see #4 Poppy’s Pride winning this event and he will likely be the betting favorite as he showed improvement over his first time out in his previous outing. Poppy’s Pride, a son of Khozan, will shorten up a little after finishing third in a five and one-half furlong event that he led the majority of before weakening in the stretch. Jockey Jesus Rios and trainer Michael Yates have had a successful working relationship this year winning 19% of their races together is another first-time starter and has had pretty consistent workouts.

Picks: I like a winning bet on the #5. A show bet on the #1 as well as an exacta box of #5, #4, #1.

Race 3- Claiming $12,500 (Purse -$19,000)

Six 3-to-5-year-old male runners will go one mile on the dirt. #5 Three Deep has shown improvement in her last two outings and is moving up slightly in class after rallying to finish second against $10,000 claimers while going seven furlongs. Three Deep, who has a victory in two starts at this distance, has medaled in 50% of his races on the dirt.#2 Senzazione is far and away the fastest of the competitors and has demonstrated that dirt suits him better than the grass as he is 3-1-1-0 on the main track. Senzazione also runs well at this distance. #6 Strong Ending has strung together his best three races in a row recently despite getting only one result in this trio of events. Like Three Deep and Senzazione, Strong Ending is moving back to the dirt where he is much more successful (3-0-2-0) than on the turf.

Picks: I like a win be on the #5. I also like an exacta box of #5, #2, #6.

Race 6 - Maiden Claiming - $50,000 -$40,000

Seven 2-year-old fillies, with five first-timers, will go five and one-half furlongs on the dirt.#3 Ventitive is making her debut and has been training well for trainer Teresa Pompay, who has a strike rate of 15% and a 46% WPS percentage this year with 2-year female runners. Ventitive is a daughter of Competitive Edge, whose foals have a combined 16% winning percentage. #1 Palmgirl is primed for an improved performance after making the move to Gulfstream from Colonial Downs where she finished a distant third in a five-furlong event on Aug. 3. The daughter of Commissioner will have Joseph Trejos, who has a 13% strike rate and has reached the podium in 36% of her starts. #4 Flying Back and #2 Miss Mikaela, both of whom are also making their debuts, should also be considered in exotic bets.

Picks: I like a win bet on the #3. I also like an exacta box of #3, #1, #4.
