Free Picks For Parx -7/13/20

Race 6 - Claiming $16,000 (Purse -$24,000)

Seven fillies and mares will go six furlongs on the dirt. This should be a pretty good race. #2 Monaco Princess is racing for the second time since coming off a four-month layoff where she finished fourth after fading down the stretch the last time out going one mile versus $16,000 optional claimers on June 27 on Laurel Park. The 4-year-old filly won her only other appearance at Parx, going seven furlongs, and has a victory in three attempts going this distance overall. I expect jockey Jeremy Laprada --owning a 25% winning percentage as well as a 50% WPS percentage this year -- to sit off the pace with Monaco Princess, who has cashed in nine of her 13 career races on the dirt, at the start. #6 Bow Town Cat will likely try to set the pace of the race, with a field high early Espeed rating of 81, in her return to Parx after spending June at Gulfstream where the 7-year-old mare finished fourth in both outings against similar competition. Bow Town Cat runs well at this distance and loves Parx where she has finished “in the money” in 11 of 16 starts including seven victories. #3 What About Tonight is looking for her third straight top 3 finish despite stepping up a little in class after finishing second against $8,000 starter allowance the last time out on June 22. #7 Not Leaving is dropping down in class after finishing seventh in an allowance race, going six furlongs, though he did win against $25,000 optional claimers at Parx two starts back.

Picks: I like an exacta box #2, #6, #3. I also like a show bet on the #3.

Race 8 - Maiden Special Weight ($40,000)

Eight male horses will go six furlongs in this race that includes two first-timers. #3 Jerusleum Gates overcame a slow start in his debut to grab second place by a nose on June 24. Frankie Pennington, who has recorded a 22% winning percentage and a 54% WPS percentage, gets the ride on 4-year-old gelding once again. #7 Brilliant Chase had his five-race streak of finishing in the top 3 snapped in his last outing as he tired and finished fifth on June 24 at this level going six furlongs on the dirt. The 3-year-old colt, who has recorded seven finishes “in the money” in 11 starts including three of four this year, has run well at this distance. #4 Wild Talent is making his debut and has trained extremely well. Trainer Edward Coletti Jr.’s first-time starters have finished in the top 3 in 30% of their starts. #8 Noble Endeavor should also be considered in exotic bets. While the 3-year-old New York colt has not raced in 2020, he has shown some promise previously and has trained well recently.

Picks: I like a win bet on the #3. I also like an exacta box bet of #3, #7, #4. Additionally, I like a show bet on the #4 as well as a trifecta box bet of #3 with the #7, #4, #8.

Race 10 - Allowance (Purse -$40,000)

Seven 3-year-old male will go a mile in this one. 1A Informative is the class of the field, having placed in the Black Type James F. Lewis Stakes race and participating in four other graded stakes events. Informative was a step slow out of the gate and ended up being no factor while finishing ninth in the Ohio Derby on June 27. Informative, who will start from post 7, only win has come at this distance. #3 Irish Cork has been solid throughout his young career, having placed in the top 3 in each of his four starts this year as well as all six outings in his career. The Pennsylvania gelding was a defeated favorite as he finished third in an allowance race at Delaware Park on June 27. Expect Frankie Pennington to get Irish Cork to the front early as he has the earliest pace of the horses in the field. #5 Twixy Cat makes his debut at Parx after spending the last seven months at Laurel Park where he finished in the money in two of his last six starts, which includes a victory back on March 1.

Picks: I like an exacta box of 1A, 3.
