2022-23 NBA Future Odds and Draft Odds

We’re after the NBA Finals and Golden State just won their seventh NBA title and fourth in the last seven years. Barring any major changes or injuries, they should be the team to beat in 2022-23. But there are some teams that could also be in the mix, who had injuries and other issues that cost them a potential title. Let’s take a look at the NBA Finals Odds, Regular Season MVP, and NBA Draft Odds (June 23).

(odds from Draft Kings)

NBA Champion- Phoenix Suns +900

So when you look at the odds for the NBA Championship as of June 17, the LA Clippers, Boston, Golden State and Brooklyn are all favorites at +600. Milwaukee is at +750 to win it and is a nice value bet for 2022-23, but I like the Phoenix Suns at +900. Now the DeAndre Ayton situation is a concern as is ownership issues (Robert Sarver). But the Suns are not dumb. Even if they lose him, it’s like they find a partner in a sign-and-trade deal (Myles Turner?). They still have Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder. That was a team that won 64 games and fell apart in the playoffs at Dallas and at home in the Conference Semifinals. Some reports have them running out of gas due to a COVID outbreak. The Suns were the best team in the NBA last season and there’s no reason why they can’t finally win a title for CP3 in the following season after some additions.

Regular Season MVP: Luka Doncic +550

Nikola Jokic is +800 to three-peat and that is a good value. But despite his greatness, his team will have to become more productive. That’s what I see with Doncic and with the addition of Christian Wood, they have a chance to break through in the West. They desperately needed some size and now, they’ll need a strong combo guard to play alongside Doncic, or they can move Spencer Dinwiddie to a starting role. Doncic is a triple-double machine, who needs to come back in better shape (he will) and is on the cusp of becoming the best player in the league if he can step up defensively (though Jokic won the MVP without being a great defender).

NBA Draft Odds

The first three picks in the NBA Draft are almost certain. There is no value in putting money on Paolo Banchero going third at -550. Now, we get to the fifth pick and that’s where it gets interesting.

It’s possible that Keegan Murray is the predictable pick to Detroit at -175. But he could go fourth and that would be +250. Jaden Ivey could drop to 5thas Sacramento reportedly wants to trade the pick and Ivey has indicated that he doesn’t want to play for the Kings. At No. 5, Ivey would be +350. Take Ivey at 5th, Murray at 4thor if you want to take a shot on a player that can go anywhere from 5 to 12, Shaedon Sharpe is a nice value at +550 at 5thand +1000 at 4th.

1stJabari Smith Jr. -165

2ndChet Holmgren -160

3rdPaolo Banchero -500

4thKeegan Murray +250

5thJaden Ivey +350
