2024 College Football Conference Winner: SEC

The SEC is the premier conference in college football, and they now add Oklahoma and Texas to strengthen the league even more. Texas is the second favorite to win the SEC at +320, while Oklahoma is more of a longshot at +4000. The SEC is also doing away with the divisions so the top two teams in the SEC will end up meeting in Atlanta and likely headed as two more teams for 12-team College Football Playoffs but expect at least four teams to get selected.

SEC Championship Game Winner: Ole Miss (+600)

The Rebels are loaded thanks to coach Lane Kiffin striking gold in the transfer portal. But they didn’t need a transfer at quarterback with Jaxson Dort returning. The former USC Trojan threw for 3,364 yards with 23 TDs and just five picks last season and rushed for eight TDs. They had the top-rated transfer class led by South Carolina star WR Antwane Wells Jr, a first-team All-SEC player in 2022 to add to an already strong receiver corps. New Mexico star RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (1,190yds, 17 TDs) and Henry Parrish Jr. from Miami (626 yds) also are in the mix. Parrish played his first two seasons with the Rebels. The defense returns five starters and adds five-star DT Walter Nolen from Texas A&M and Florida four-star EDGE Princely Umanmielen. LB Chris Paul Jr. from Arkansas, CB Trey Amos from Alabama and S Yam Banks from South Alabama are all former four -star players.

Longshot: Tennessee (+1400)

The Vols may be forgotten because QB Joe Milton is gone, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Enter Nico Iamaleava, who led Tennessee to a 35-0 Citrus Bowl win over Iowa and accounted for four touchdowns. Dylan Sampson should be fine taking over for 1,000-yard rusher Jaylen Wright. He rushed for 132 yards against Iowa. Dont’e Thornton is back from a difficult ankle injury. The defense is loaded up front with James Pearce back after recording 10 sacks. The biggest concern is in the secondary where they must replace all four starters, but they do have some strong transfers coming in, especially at safety.
