2024 March Madness Odds and Super Seven Betting Outlook

(odds from DraftKings)

Listed below are the top 7 teams according to their odds to win the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

1)Purdue +900 (17-2 SU, 12-6-1 ATS, 13-6 O/U, 6-2 B10). Purdue is ranked second in the important NCAA Net Rankings. The bottom line for the Boilermakers is will they have another lapse in the NCAA Tournament as they did last season against FDU or will they go on like Virginia, who lost to UMBC in 2018 and won the title the next season? You have to feel the latter should be the way to go but if teams can double team 7-4 Zach Edey and if their shooters are off?

2)Houston +1000 (16-2 SU, 9-8-1 ATS, 5-13 O/U, 3-2 B12) Houston is ranked first by the NCAA Net Rankings, but they are having some struggles in their new league of the Big 12. Their guard play is outstanding led by L.J. Cryer. But defensive teams often struggle in the postseason when they go up against another good defensive team and they have to make shots. I’d pass but this is one of the years where it’s wide open.

3)Arizona +1100 (14-4 SU, 12-6 ATS, 9-9 O/U, 5-2 P12). Arizona is ranked third in the NCAA Net Ranking. What worries me about this team is their bad losses at Washington State and Stanford (100-82). This is a talented team but those losses worry me and even their 77-71 win over UCLA as an 18.5-point favorite is worrisome. Defense is also a concern with them.

4)UConn +1100. (17-2 SU, 11-8 ATS, 9-9-1 O/U, 7-1 BE). Can the Huskies repeat? They are 8th in the NCAA Net Rankings. UConn has all the tools to repeat and with Donovan Clingan (7-2, 280) getting healthier, they have one of the few players in the nation who can match Zach Edey’s size or come close. They have all the tools and talent to repeat. Plus good value.

5)Kentucky +1200 (14-3 SU, 11-6 ATS, 14-3 O/U, 4-1 SEC). Kentucky is starting to warm up in the SEC. Their NCAA Net Ranking of 18th is not good, but getting better. That’s because they lost to UNCW at home. They do give up a lot of points, but also lead the nation in points per game and shoot over 50% from the field and over 40% from three-point range. They also just added 7-2 Zvonimir Ivisic and he blocked three shots in his first game. The SEC is pretty good so let’s see how they do against Tennessee, Auburn on the road and Alabama at home, but they are a team to watch or lay some money on.

6)North Carolina +1500 (16-3 SU, 12-7 ATS, 9-10 O/U, 8-0 ACC). UNC is 6th in the NCAA Net Rankings. My only concern about North Carolina is their lack of a quality NBA prospect though R.J. Davis is playing like one right now. The ACC is also a bit down, but I can’t blame anyone for taking the Tar Heels to win the whole thing right now at those odds.

7)Auburn +1600 (16-2 SU, 12-5-1 ATS, 7-11 O/U, 5-0 SEC) Auburn is 7th in the latest NCAA Net Rankings. The Tigers play Alabama on the road on Wednesday and if they can beat them, they will continue on a 12-game winning streak. A team to watch no doubt.
