Andrew Sanchez vs Wellington Turman Odds and Prediction, UFC Vegas 6 Prelims

An excellent middleweight prospect matchup ensues on the UFC Vegas 6 Prelims as Wellington Turman and former TUF winner Andrew Sanchez collide.

Andrew Sanchez (11-5, +135)

With the evolution of worldwide mixed martial arts, outlasting the house to claim an Ultimate Fighter series far from guarantees big league Octagon success in 2020. Andrew Sanchez has met life at the top with difficulty. Overall, the 32-year-old stands 3-3 post TUF glory. "El Dirte's" losses come to standout names Anthony Smith, Ryan Janes and Marvin Vettori -the former two were abrupt TKO stoppages. Meanwhile, wins against marginal UFC roster fillers Trevor Smith, Markus Perez and Marc-Andre Barriault aren't moving wager lines. Though, odds and rankings reflect just how evenly matched Sanchez and Turman are heading into Saturday's event.

Wellington Turman (16-3, -155)

Having split his initial Octagon dates, with a contested decision loss vs. Karl Roberson, Wellington Turman is a tough challenge at just 24-years-old. And it is youth which allowed Turman to correct issues and return last November with an impressive win vs. Erik Perez. That one performance opened matchmakers' eyes and now has the Brazilian facing another step-up opportunity in his short UFC tenure.

The Matchup: Both men mix striking and grappling well. Turman averages 2.43 significant strikes per minute and lands 3.00 takedowns per 15 minutes. Overall, the Curitiba fighter owns four TKO's and seven submissions while never being stopped. The submissions and grappling displayed by Turman are legit as his formative contests came in the world's BJJ hotbed. That stated, Andrew Sanchez knows his way around the mat while averaging 2.25 takedowns per 15 minutes and 4.49 significant strikes per minute. Sanchez owns two career submissions and five TKO's. Although three of his five losses come by stoppage.

While Sanchez is more experienced than Turman, and perhaps the better pure wrestler, he also wields more betting value at +155. Though I see a Wellington Turman win, I'd put money on former TUF champ Andrew Sanchez Saturday simply because of his price.

The Pick: Take Sanchez by decision
