College Football Perfect Ten Week 1: August 28th

For the first time in the history of College Football, there will not be any debate about the National Champion this season. 2024 kicks off the 12-team playoff system that should assure a unanimous and undisputed champion. Here’s our first look at the top ten teams heading into the official week one of the College Football season.

Perfect 10 Week One

Here is my list of the top 10 teams to open the 2024 season. That includes their odds to win the National Championship to start the season Let’s take a look at my list.

  1. Georgia (+320) - The Bulldogs open up with a tough one, with a ‘neutral’ site game against #14 Clemson. The game will be at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta and the Bulldogs should be ready to go with an experienced QB and a home-field advantage.

  1. Ohio State (+400) - Ohio State will not be tested in week one with a home game against Akron. The Big Ten will be challenging enough this season, however, so a brief cupcake game is not a bad idea to start the season.

  1. Texas (+750) - The Longhorns kick off their first-ever season in the SEC with an experienced offense and hungry to get back to the College Football Playoffs. They’ll open with Colorado State at home, meaning they’ll open with a win.

  1. Oregon (+850) - The Ducks are another team on the move this season, moving to a now stacked Big Ten Conference. They’ll ease into things this season, opening with Idaho at home on Saturday. Things will pick up soon.

  1. Notre Dame (+2500) - The Irish and new QB Leonard will be tested right away with a road game at College Station against the 20th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies. We’ll know right away if Leonard is healthy and the right fit for this Irish attack.

  1. Ole Miss (+1500) - Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is finally out from under the looming shadow of Nick Saban. Can he lead his team to an SEC crown? They won’t be tested this week, with a cupcake game at home vs. Furman.

  1. Alabama (+1400) - New ‘Bama head coach Kalen DeBoer goes from the National Title game to the most storied program in College Football history. He’ll soon learn that there was far less pressure in last year’s title game. The Crimson Tide won’t have to worry about week one opponent Western Kentucky, however.

  1. Utah (+6000) - Quarterback Cam Rising is finally back and Utah hopes he can help them to the top of the revamped Big 12 Conference. The Utes open up with a relatively easy in-state opponent on Friday night against Southern Utah.

  1. Missouri (+3500) - Missouri arguably brings back the most complete offense in the SEC with QB Brady Cook back along with WR Luther Burden III. The Tigers dipped into the transfer portal to help at RB with Marcus Carroll (Georgia State) and Nate Noel (App State) brought into the fold. If they can hold up defensively, they could get to double-figure wins again this season. They open with a light one, at home against Murray State.

  1. LSU (+1600) - Heisman Trophy-winner Jaylen Daniels is now playing on Sundays but the Tigers are comfortable with Garrett Nussmeier at QB. He’ll have a stable of solid wide receivers to work with and the Tigers are confident their defense will be better. Head coach Brian Kelly knows how to win. He’ll be tested early against #23 USC at home.

Week One Upset Alert:

#5 Notre Dame at #20 Texas A&M (-3): Notre Dame will be tested right out of the shoot in one of College Football’s most hostile environments, on the road at College Station against the Aggies. New QB Riley Leonard will get a chance to test out his recovered ankle and show his mettle on the road against an Aggies team that is anxious to perform under new head coach Mike Elko. The ties are strong in this one. Not only did Elko serve as the DC at Notre Dame in 2016 but he was Leonard’s head coach at Duke in 2022 and 2023. This one could get very interesting.
