FATE Preview

HLTV World Ranking: 51st

The Bulgarian squad FATE has been somewhat inconsistent lately. Over the last three months, they hold a win rate of only 51.2% although they have been playing against tougher competition. FATE is really good on the maps Train and Overpass with a 68.8% win rate on Train and a 64.3% win rate on Overpass. Dust2 is the only other map in which they have a win rate higher than 50% on, however, which leaves some room for concern regarding FATE.

When FATE does good, it almost always comes from behind the firepower of harn and mar. These are the only two members of FATE's roster who have positive kill to death ratios, and neither of those ratios are very impressive. The play of Zix has somewhat been a hindrance to the team in the more recent months. He's only averaged 0.53 kills per round while only dying 0.72 times a round. FATE can win this contest fairly easily, they just need the right map selection mixed with a decent performance from the entire team.

Sprout Preview

HLTV World Ranking: 36th

The German/Polish team of Sprout continues to roll through the lower tiers of competition. The team doesn't know how to lose very often with an outstanding 69.6% win rate over the last three months. Map selection won't affect Sprout's chances much as they have no map with a win rate lower than 50%. In fact, they hold 50% win rates on Nuke and Vertigo, 60% on Train and Overpass, and win rates of at least 72.7% on Inferno, Mirage and Dust2.

The success of Sprout is dependant on the group of faveN, snatchie and dycha. These three have been solid contributors over the last three months with an average of 2.17 kills per round while dying only 1.89 times a round. Something that makes them so solid is the fact that any of these three have the ability to pull off clutch situations when the team needs it the most. This is a very winnable contest for Sprout, but they can't get ahead of themselves as FATE isn't a pushover by any means.

Pick: Sprout Spread/Handicap -4.5 Rounds (-115 @ Bovada)

I am siding with Sprout on this contest. The only thing that can hurt Sprout is themselves, and I believe that they will be able to avoid this. FATE can be a really good team, but their inconsistency raises concerns for me. Sprout, on the other hand, has been overly dominant, especially in contests such as these in which they are expected to win. I look for Sprout to make quick work of this battle with FATE, and a four and a half round spread will be easy for them to cover.
